Makes a lot of sense. But not for VAN.

Lol I didn't know who to sign for that spot. Someone will probably give zadorov that kind of money. GM's love size and physicality. But really could be any UFA signing in that spot or a trade to fill it.

Lot of differing opinions from both sides here which means it's likely pretty close.

Would a trade of Graves half retained, Zacha, and a conditional 3rd for Bear, Blake, Bokk, Suzuki, and a 5th work? The conditions on the pick would be if Zacha does NOT produce 45 or more points for the Canes in the 22-23 season, the pick upgrades to a second round pick.

JT Miller had a great season, but Devils should not be buyers there. Boeser, Garland, Demko make more sense for NJD.

Miller wouldn't be a fit for the Devils though this package isn't as bad as the other ones I've seen

I think that the price would be so astronmical that it would ward off any other team, hes a top 7 goalie in the league, and he is on a top 3 contract so it would take the 2nd overall and probably another A prospect and maybe a future 1st

I agree that on the surface Miller doesn't seem like a fit but reports are the devil's were really interested in Miller at the deadline and could circle back on him. Aside from age (a big thing to ignore I know) he fits everything Fitzgerald is looking for. Leadership, grit, points, you name it. With Fitzgerald's year end presser saying he would like some more grit because they have a lot of the same type of skill guys it makes me think garland isn't really a fit there (he is gritty but super small) and I don't think the Canucks are going to move Boeser.

NJD has the cap and signed Hamilton last summer as an indication that they want to compete. The more I think about it the more I think Miller could actually be a really good fit to help lead that young group NJD.

I would think the returns would be similar to Freddy Anderson 2016 trade or Varlamov 2011 trade.

It’s a risk taking on Zacha. He has never broken 40 pts in the NHL, but I think he could be a 60+ pt guy on a true contender. It’s just a bit of risk mitigation. I mean, the Canes would probably want to sign him long term at about 4mil for 7-8 years. You have to admit, a 6OA winger/Center in a deep draft not cracking at least 40pts is a little disappointing. So while the risk is there, the reward is there too.
