trading william nylander (a great player currently in his prime) just to free up cap space would be a silly idea when the leafs could part with jake muzzin (who's still good but clearly declining and no longer worth his contract) instead. maybe this trade is wishful thinking on my part, but i think detroit would be interested in this since they're looking to be playoff-competitive next year & muzzin would help stabilize their defense. idk.

Swap the draft pick out for Emil Bemstrom or Gabriel Carlsson, preferably.

But I think Holl can be good depth and size at RD.

Also, please don’t do the “They can go anywhere” trades.

Detroit isn't moving Veleno for Muzzin. Detroit can find a suitable replacement in free agency at a lower cost then muzzin. Probably have to throw in an asset to unload muzzin on Detroit at this point.

I don’t think Buffalo would be interested in Kerfoot,
but i do think there’s teams that would be for a 3rd
Maybe a few are interested & u get a 2nd even?

Detroit does not now, nor ever, want:
Kerfoot, Holl or Muzzin, regardless of cost.

For your reasoning tha Muzzin is in decline and I may say quickly, he is not worth his contract and then thinking Wings give up a prospect who has not blossomed yet if ever to help your cap situation is wrong. Wings ate not a dumping ground for teams looking to get rid of cap for overpriced players and expecting to get something back.

The market for LD is flooded this summer with teams in cap trouble (WPG, PIT, VGK etc.) all offering players dirt cheap. It's a buyers market.
