Description
If Bergy returns for one more year than I could see 2023 being their legit last shot. Pasta, Haula, Smith, and Nosek are all UFAs after 2023. If Bergy's contract doesn't have a cap hit then expect bonuses.

Grzelcyk didn’t exactly have the best year. I don’t think he’s getting a 20 year old former first rounder who’s doing well in the AHL.

I agree with your description, if he doesn't come back, expect a rebuild to come very soon.

I think you have undervalued these bruins players ngl

I love grezlyc as a player, so maybe it's just me, but I think he gets holmstrom + 2nd + aho or salo. Is that fair?
Mike Reilly can fetch a 3rd, I'm sure

Smith could get a 2nd and 4th most likely

Because you don’t trade high end prospects for middle of the lineup guys, unless you suffered serious head trauma

I know you're not calling Simon holmstrom a high end prospect...

He’s playing extremely well lately. I’m not trading him for a middle of the lineup player you pylon.

I don’t think the guy trading Varly to Buffalo every chance he gets should take shots at other people. It’s not like he has a 16 team no trade list or anything. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Grzelcyk has been a great #3 defenseman for years now. He moves the puck, can defend well and has helped QB one of the best power plays in the league over the past few seasons. He'd fill our biggest need immediately

Holmstrom's ceiling is a 3rd line winger, Grzelyk is pretty much a poor mans Devon Toews, we could use one of those! If you wouldn't trade a B prospect for a #3 defenseman I don't know what to tell you lmao.

Idea that he is a poor man’s Toews is hysterical

I would bet Buffalo is on his list. They usually are on most players list.

Trading 1st round picks (or former first round picks), for middle of the lineup guys is how the Islanders got into this situation. If you are adding a high end talent that can help you win a cup then I’m all for it. In all likelihood, Grzelyck is not gonna be the reason you win a cup.

There is value in having good/cheap depth players. If Holmstrom becomes more valuable to the organization as a trade chip, then he should be used to acquire a top line winger/d man. Not another middle of the lineup guy who doesn’t make you a contender.

Dude it’s like putting the Islanders on your no trade list in 2010 lmao. It’s just what guys have historically done and to argue about whether or not I can “prove it” is ridiculous.

I can’t even see the numbers, but I don’t think anyone would compare Grzelyck to a poor man’s Toews.

I AM NOT commenting on the trade at all i dont want to get into that conversation, i just wanted to say that grzelcyk is a product pf playing with mcavoy. Hes your basic small good skating dman who can run a pp but hes not this 2 way beast like his numbers suggest (or like devon toews). How good he is on his own idk exactly but i wouldnt be chomping at the bit to bring him to LI.
