There is speculation about him not wanting to commit long term, but the Jets are highly, highly likely to sign him to an extension.

To answer your question though, if you want him you're going to have to give up guys like Krebs or Cozens instead of Johnson. Mittlestadt has concerning injury history, and isn't at Dubois level.

I’d say it started with Krebs and the first but would need more added also if scheifele is traded there is very little chance the jets move him.

They bring up the idea due to Friedman mentioning some uncertainty between player and team. You're probably correct and the ultimately sign him.

I would think that 9oa is close to filling the gap between Mitts and Dubois.

They also proposed a counter offer trade of Cozens, Johnson and the Florida pick. Not sure if that moves the needle for you in either direction.

I think that second proposed deal is interesting. Realistically jets would need to be rebuilding for a deal like this to happen. Which seems unlikely considering they expect to be a cap team for the next few years.

The 9th overall pick is intriguing, but you'd still have to replace a 23 year old who has already scored 20+ goals three times and plays with a nice irritating edge. A 9th overall, Krebs, and Mittlestadt could work.

I would sooner offer them number 9 and 16 with Mittelstadt before giving them Cozens, Krebs, Quinn, or Peterka for example. If that weren’t enough I would hang up and call somebody else.

It's obvious that offer is from a Buffalo podcast. That is awful for Winnipeg. Other than the first there is nothing there that Winnipeg would need or want of they moved PLD.

Wow, so PLD is worth more than Eichel was worth last year?
Mitts has had a higher points per game the last 2 years than Tuch ever did with Vegas.
Krebs=Krebs
9OA>>>>>>> the expected late first we thought we would recieve.
PLD doesn’t have that kind of value.

I agree that Winnipeg probably doesn’t have much use for Johnson in particular. Winnipeg already has a stable of young left handed defenders. I doubt the podcasters had any clue about that. I would imagine they know that Buffalo doesn’t particularly need Johnson either and could use him as a trade chip. But if the Sabres are going to make a big move like trying to bring in a young top six player to add to the core, I think most fans would be more comfortable with parting with draft picks and a prospect like Johnson instead of the younger players that are already playing. That doesn’t mean it’s realistic for either side.

Yup. It's just not a realistic scenario. The Jets have no reason to move Dubois for futures, so only a similarly aged or younger, similarly skilled player makessense for the Jets.

Elliotte Friedman on Pierre-Luc Dubois’ future: "I don't think Pierre-Luc Dubois wants to be traded or anything like that. I don't think the Winnipeg Jets are looking to trade Pierre-Luc Dubois." Seems like those podcasters are just making up offseason content.
