Alex Nylander is the Penguins wild card

Created by: gpmack95
Team: 2022-23 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: May 18, 2022
Published: May 18, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Alex Nylander had 43 points in the AHL this year, as well as 6 points in 6 playoff games. He could be a cheap middle six forward for the Pens next year, helping with their salary cap questions. Would he slot with Malkin or Carter?

I'd love to see Nylander live up to his pedigree but obviously, we can't count on it just yet...
injuries will provide opportunity for him next year bc we know sully won't just slot him in lol

contracts are prob close in value

I would honestly put him on Geno's line

in 19-20, he was very good with CHI. That knee injury caused him to have a step back, but I think he should get a fair chance. If not, keep him in WBS and sign a Zach Sandford or Andreas Athanasiou to play RW.

To start probably. Just thinking overall team, Carter was best when he had a McCann-- now Carter sucks so he needs someone scoring on his line.

I don't know, he's a ufa at the end of the year. I think yzerman keeps him for his defense and size for at least the rest of the year

I know in other threads, Wings fans have said Kap and Sunny in same sentences, but want to think of a fair deal for both. Obviously if Kap was included, Pens would need to work a deal out with Sundqvist first

I would say it’s counter productive to trade Dumo and sign Chiarot to a longer and more expensive contract. I’d say right now Dumo skill wise is still a step up on Chiarot. I also think it’s counter productive to trade POJ for Soucy. Soucy is a really good 3rd pair d. POJ has the ceiling to be a good top 4 D. Plus he is cheaper and has longer term control. It seems also counter productive to trade all 3 of Dumo, MP, and POJ. I just feel that’s a waste of assets and cap. Just my opinion. Cause it forces you to rely on Rakell being willing to take a discount, Nylander to finally find his footing in the NHL, for Mikheyev to suddenly become a top 6 d, Chiarot to suddenly be worth a 4.25 million contract. Just too many what ifs and high risks.

I'd do Sundqvist + McIsaac + Grewe for Pettersson + Kapanen + Nylander.

Alex becomes eligible for waivers this summer so a decision needs to be made.

I like Nylander and think he is Rusts replacement.

Sundqvist + Smith + 4th for Pettersson + Kapanen + 7th?

Don’t know much about sandford but I’ve heard AA doesn’t rlly play D and we don’t need more of that type of winger

No, if we got both Nylander and Kapanen then I'd be OK with losing Sunny otherwise he needs to stay, he fills a need with us.

If Alex is off limits we're back to something like Marcus + Kasperi for Smith + McIsaac (or Grewe if you want) + a 4th or something like that.

Not bad, but I am not sure I want to find out what 35 year old Palat looks like.
