Assuming AZ is not on Dumba's 10 team no trade list and they very likely are.

I'd rather offer sheet Fiala than give the 2nd overall for him.

I wonder how Fleury feels about sitting on the bench during an elimination game?

I like your thought on the Minni trade, though I still think the second overall might be too high for Jersey to give up. Jersey could spend 11m or so on UFAs and keep their first rounder, instead of making the trade. UFAs are the trade competition for Minni for a 7.5m or so Fiala.

I'm doubting Dumba's M NTC includes any team poor team that has cap space.....He stays a Wild

2oa is for Talbot and Hunt. Fiala is the 5th in this trade. sarcasm

Once NJD got 2oa their 1st got taken off the table for Fiala. 5oa would have been a stretch.

I've thought that Fleury may want to join the Leafs in maybe his last season. Cup winning Leafs from the 1960s are still immortalized in Leaf nation. Might be quite a life long crown if he could pull off a Cup win (hey a first round win) with the Leafs.

I'm thinking a Dumba trade is one where MN gets a $3m-$4m player back as part of a package, not a straight futures trade. It opens up more trade partners.

IDK why people aren’t using the 23 1st for these Fiala deals. They just make more sense.

Using a future 1st ties GMs hands. One less asset to trade if they want to go all in. If things go sideways for the season then it could be a high pick or kicked down the road another season. They learned from EK and Duschene trades about losing future top-5 picks? '23 looks like a better draft class.

A future 1st is less appealing to MN's GM when there is the Kaprizov ticking clock.

I see that, but if that turns out to be the case then that GM is likely no longer paying the price. As for BG, the Kaprizov clock *should* be a fiction. Regardless of whether he stays past 5 years, this window opens in 25.

So the window opens in 2025. Kaprizov is a rental at that point. If he walks or is traded, because he's not going to re-sign then the window is closed before it even opens. Not to mention Spurgeon (already falling off) is 3 years older. Brodin is now in his 30s. A player drafted this year has a better chance of making the NHL roster compared to one draft in 2023.

The Kaprizov clock is real. They need to compete while he's here, or trade him now, At the very latest trade him before his NMC kick in.

I was in camp trade his rights last summer so I think I’m being consistent if nothing else. You can’t win with 1 or 2 stars. You need 4-5. We might have that in 2025. We don’t know.
