Description
You are not going to like this.

It's fine, I don't like it either.

1- TRADE JT to a Cali team.
2- Acquire Decent Goaltender : Prime Gibson.
3- Don't resign your luxury bottom 6. They only seem good because they are playing on a good team. Someone can take their place.

  2. Tavares, John
  3. 2022 1st round pick (TOR)
  4. 2022 3rd round pick (WPG)
  5. 2022 7th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
only chance for JT to waive his NMC is with a move to Cali... He ain't going to Buffalo.

I would add Bunting as he is a fluke that you will have to overpay, so add him in order to trade Mrazek in the deal.

Be confident my friend - he's the only #1 you can afford smile.

He's 28 - playing on a rebuilding team.

On the Leafs, he will look like a stud.

Exept that he isnt good and his contract is worse.
If the leafs can afford his salary, they can afford dozens of other goalies who havent been bottom 10 in starters for 3+ years

Jared, your leafs haven't made it out of the first round since 2004... It's time to try something different.

Yes, Tavares wants to go to a non-competitive team in a state with one of the highest state taxes in the USA..

He is more likely to waive his NMC to go to Arizona..

Toronto taxes > Anaheim taxes

And the ducks are up and coming with their youth. Playing mentor to Zegras with all this potential is pretty exciting IMO.

Yes but he clearly wants to play in Toronto, hence why he signed there instead of San Jose who was offering more money at the time ($12M AAV IIRC). I mean they have high state tax relative to other sunny state teams. Also Toronto has the added benefit of being paid in USD when the CAD is weaker, thus making your money worth more relative to the cost of living.

Also, the second they trade Gibson is the second they become basement dwellers for the foreseeable future. Tavares only has 3 years left on his deal and ANH will certainly not be remotely competitive in those years without Gibson (they likely wont be competitive those years with him either)

Playing with Zegras is cool, sure.. But I am going to assume being on a power play with Matthews and Marner is much more appealing to him..

Nothing about him going to Anaheim makes sense

Whose made it to the cup final in the year prior and finished 32rd after their Stars goaltender (10.5M cap) was out the whole season as well as their #1 RD in Weber... then loosing one of the best shutdown C in the league in Danault, our top scorer (Tatar).

Then we got the first overall pick - and we will probably win a playoff serie before the Leafs do - especially when AM34 leaves for the US in two years.

how did you guys build on it? by coming dead last, thats right, weber has been washed for like 3 years, danault willingly left over 500k so he didnt wanna be there lol, clearly a problem in habs country, 3 players had to take a leave of absence, you guys wont be in the playoffs for a bit, simmer down, time to come to realization that the habs needed covid to make playoffs and theya re much closer to the team they were this year then the year prior.
