I’d negotiate prospects if that’s the case. It will be a bidding war if he were to become available

This is all just fluff. Nothing of enormous value here (yes, including Byfield), so you will have to add. I think the leafs would like Petersen along with all, and an extra first round pick.

Any trade for him will have fluff.

Fans don’t understand that there are contract limits. Cant have 8 pieces for 1 or 2.

Also I would swap 2nd round for ‘24 1st. Since you want another 1st rounder.

No team will BREAK their entire roster for any player. Let’s be real.

Never said they would. Just saying that if you want matthews, that's the damage

I know my offer is slightly under. Probably would have to add a Kupari but I doubt it’ll get that far. Maybe swap Spence for Clarke to make it look better.

I already know what it costs for Mathews. But I bet the kings would make a deal that would work for both sides and are one of very few teams that have money and assets to do it.

I realize there are contract limits. If that is the concern, remove Spence, and replace him with Clarke, and add in Petersen, and Toronto will send you back Mrazek. That's at least somewhat close to Matthews if it's all going to be a large assortment of pieces no where near Matthews' value.

I think that would be closer yes. Don’t think Petersen gets traded but who knows

Still not enough, and if vegas can trade for eichel, any team can trade for matthews cap wise.
And asset wise, if the Kings want him, theyre gonna need to add a lot more than just kupari

I don't disagree, but we are talking about a Matthews trade here lol. Petersen is probably the first thing Toronto would want from LA.

Also I’m sure TOR adds a contract or 2 if needed

Wouldn’t be a lot more. That’s reaching.

What’s your off from the kings? I’m curious

Byfield too. Byfield has just been kind of a bust so far, that's all.

Lol he’s not a bust in his first year. He needs to gain muscle and learn to play against men. He’ll be fine. He’s like a baby giraffe out there. He was literally dominating against kids that were half his size. Comes to the NHL against guys like Tom Wilson grown ass men who’ve been in the league a while.

People need to relax on the bust thing. Turcotte on the other hand….

Fair enough, I'm sure he'll have a long NHL career and all. I would just rather have a proven player that fills a need over someone who has failed to do anything at an NHL level (even if he's only 20 or whatever he is).

Wow, didn't realize he was that young!

Both of them better be in the deal, if Matthews is going to LA (which, obviously, he isn't, but in the hypothetical situation that he is, they would be).

You know what’s great. In a couple years Kopitars contract drops off same time as Mathews and could just sign Mathews and keep Byfield.

🙌🏻
Man oh man that would be something.
