canucks fans also hate that contract and it even gave them almost 5 mill in cap room due to who they gave up, not taking in 6 mill. Not sure what team will make a trade like that except for the coyotes, since they have room

It all depends on whether or not teams are willing to take a gamble on a guy that had an incredible season last year.

sometimes players play really damn good in their contract years.
Jeff Skinner had a 40 goal season then got paid 9 mill only to have 2 down years before picking it up again this year, but he's only just turned 30, not 34
Nick Foligno put up 73 points in 79 games in his contract year, then dropped to 37 the next year
      Never know what can happen

Omit Edmonton because Petry isn't waiving to go back there when he wants out of Canada, And i doubt he has any interest in Washington DC either. Rest look fine for potential destinations.

I totally agree with you! The difference is that Petry is a right handed dman and those are rare.

Weird since I played 8 years and I’ve played with only 3 right handed players

      "Declining year" LOL

You guys should stop repeating what you read and start whatching games.

He has 20 pts in his last 29 games with MSL.

that's wild. My senior year of high school we had 7 defenseman who were all righty. But I only played AA

Most players had better stats once he left. Just look at Caufield, he had one goal under Ducharme and he finished at 23!

for CGY's sake I'd like to think that's natural progression as he's only 24.
Skinner and Foligno were 27 UFAs, and Petry was 32

Petry had 3 straight seasons at 40+ points, last year is not the outlier here this year is.

how is his defense though. I don't pay for advanced stats so idk them and at least for Columbus as an option, they are full of offensive D, they need defense

Petry is a 2 way D man, who leans towards the offensive side. His defense is good but not elite. When his offense is not going his defense doesn't make up for it enough. This is why he works well with Eddy, cause he can take his offensive chances and rely on Eddy to cover miscues. I don't think there is a fit with the Jackets TBH.

Just found this on twitter.I hope the link works.

      https://twitter.com/KevinMVallee/status/1519767474782281729?

Stunning how players improved under MSL. Petry and Caufield are the best examples.
