Probably be better off trading for Mangiapane, if NJ wants him. Then you don't have to overpay as such.

You mean why would new jersey do that? That is a huge win for Buffalo on that trade.

I'd take that trade for buffalo. I don't agree that either will help much at the dot tho.

Forget the offer sheet "nonsense". Just sign a UFA for 6m, and keep your 1st and 3rd rounder

Sabres decline
Not trading Olofsson for your supposed faceoff help who's 50.1% isn’t even good

Huge win, Why? I can just sign Olofsson myself for that very low price. And get more production from 1 player than 2. We have younger players that are better than both them.

IMO centers have more value than wingers, Zacha is 21 months younger than Olofsson and Zacha would be Buffalo's best FO center.
Even with that, I still pass on the trade.
Boqvist will be 24 at the start of next season and Buffalo currently has 5 decent options at center and with Pavel would have 6, I do not see any a spot for him in the Sabres line up.
Buffalo has 8 second line forwards with only Skinner and Thompson as possible top liners.
For this reason I could see Buffalo making a two for one trade where Buffalo is trading two players, I cannot see them taking two players for one that would dilute their top level talent.
Trying to play through an injury over the first 38 games he had 5 goals, 16 assists, 21 pts and was -17.
After his wrist healed, over his final 34 games he had 15 goals, 13 assists, 28 pts and was +1.
IMO, his production next year will be more similar to his last 34 games.
While he may be traded, it is unlikely it will be for two forwards, more likely a RHD if Buffalo were to add an asset.
I think he will be a Sabre next year.

Minnesota says no. They aren't trading a cheap, big body 1st dman for a worse d , and winger prospect they don't need

Is there data to check out on Zacha's face offs? From my review he was 4th on the devils in the dot with less opportunity. I love a good face off guy so im curious where your thoughts on him being better than anyone on buffalo come from. Is it just that buffalo is so bad there?

Buffalo is really bad at winning face offs.
The worst in the NHL: https://www.nhl.com/stats/teams?reportType=season&seasonFrom=20212022&seasonTo=20212022&gameType=2&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=a_faceoffWinPct&page=0&pageSize=50
Only Eakin had a good FO % but it is unlikely he will be wearing a Sabre sweater next year.
