Both Tavares and OEL block that trade immediately. Tavares wont waive for anybody now that he is playing for his hometown team, and OEL likely wont waive unless he goes to Boston, which isnt happening.

Assuming the players chose to waive, Toronto might take that, and Vancouver might as well. It's one ****ty contract for another, One is too much money whereas the other is too much term. Don't know if the teams do it.

I wouldn't touch that as Vancouver. 11mil handcuffs them. OEL contract isn't ideal but it is manageable for a 2nd pair dman. Look at Colorado paying Johnson 6mil or Tampa paying mcdonaugh 6.75. Canucks can build a good team with OEL on the books as a shutdown, puck moving dman. Tavares for 4million more makes things a lot more difficult

Just as an example of what the Canucks could have using players that I know Canucks fans like. Would you rather have OEL + Garland at about 12.2mil or Tavares + Highmore at 12mil?

Garland is the caliber of player that you won't be able to afford by having Tavares over OEL

Of course NTC Tavares doesn't move. But I don't think the Leafs would do the trade anyway. Leafs seem good at LHD.....and in the explantation....NTC Muzzin isn't/can't be traded

toronto stuck with an 11miller who probably won't play anywhere else but for them and hasn't even had a 90 point season

Lol, they have both of them, oel and myers. Say what you want about Tavares, he's still a point per game player.

Leafs say no, Tavares says no. Oel is a healthy scratch on the leafs. Tavares is our 2c, and a very good one. He's also our captain lol.

I would agree to the point that the leafs say no, he would definately not be a healthy scratch, he would probably be your #2 D, hes better than muzzin and gio and would play below the riley brodie paring

Yep and OEL is still a shutdown defender that steps up offensively when he's on PP1. What's your point?

If I'm being honest there's worse contracts in the league than both Tavares and OEL. (Most of them are on San Jose lol)

Not sure if you watched the playoffs but Tavares is too slow to play C now. He's a 2nd line winger.

He's better than Brodie too. OEL would be their number 2 dman.

Lol, nope 2c. Tavares has never been quick. Doesn't seem to stop him from being a point per game player though. Good leader. Hard worker. We are just fine keeping him. No cap issues, so it doesn't really make sense.

OEL plays a more valuable position for less money. I wouldn’t do it
