Realistic Offseason

Created by: Phusa7877
Team: 2022-23 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: May 18, 2022
Published: May 19, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Wild have to create cap space to fill out a roster for next season. The core of this team is in place with Kaprizov, Erickson Ek, Brodin, Zuccarello, Spurgeon, Foligno, and Greenway. They have young talent in Boldy, Addison, Rossi, and Wallstedt ready to contribute next year and beyond.
Offseason Priorities:
1. Trade Fiala - We don't have a choice. Get what you can for him. The Devils, Senators, Kings, and maybe the Islanders make the most sense as trade partners. It's difficult to gage what the Wild might get in return for Fiala. Most likely a prospect and some picks. I went with Devils because I like the potential of Holtz.
2. Figure out what to do with Dumba. Trade him or extend him. I could see them extending him in the 4 million range but he always seems to be injuried. I don't know who will trade for him and you will likely have to add in a prospect or draft pick to move him.
3. Re-sign Middleton. Getting him for Kahkonen and a 5th round pick was a steal. Probably in the 2-3 million range.
4. Goalie to partner with Talbot - Guerin said he wants to resign Fluery, it will come down to how much probably in the 2.5 to 3.5 million range. I like Holtby if they don't re-sign Fluery.
5. Re-sign Dewar - He is ready to contribute in the NHL. I actually prefer Dewar over Duhaime.
6. Re-sign Deslauries - I'd rather have Deslauries in the box for fighting then Foligno.
7. Fill out the roster will league minimum contracts.

Detroit isn't giving up future assets for dime a dozen players that can be easily found in free agency

A. Kulikov isn't waiving for Detroit, so this is moot.
B. Detroit has zero interest in Jost

Not happening.

I think the Devils would prefer Holtz at his low cap hit and club control over Fiala at 8 mil.

Minnesota says no to the 1st proposal. Nowhere near the value you are sending to Minnesota

Of course they will. And they’ll also understand Minnesota’s cap situation
