Not sure why Anaheim would make this deal

I don't think you're giving *our* boy Rico enough credit here...He was pretty great this year.

Honestly, a year ago I would have been all over this, trying to dump that contract, but with only 2 years left and him still putting up really solid 2 way numbers, I think I'd want a more value than AJ...there's already about 53 bottom 6 LW's on the Ducks roster, so it doesn't really make sense to add one. Plus, Rico doesn't really have any negative effect on the Ducks cap this year or next, and fills a valuable role for the extremely young Ducks. I'd have to have solid value coming back if I considered moving him, and the Ducks ability to add retention is helpful as well (though not to your Devs)

Honestly I dont move Rico for less than a first without retention, He's a pretty important piece that we dont have anyone to replace him with if he's moved, and his cap number actually helps us get to the floor, so if anything his contract makes him more valuable to us not less.

Rico is a great guy to have around our young core and his value as a mentor alone is enough for the Ducks to not consider moving him imo

I’m with you on the 1st if we retain in a Rico trade, sometimes when I make these messing around that I ultimately end up deleting, I have a hard time finding a spot for him on the roster but in the real world I really don’t see where he is dealt this season at all .. maybe next off season depending on how everything else is going?

LW 2/3 and 2C is his spot rather easily next year. McTavish wont start at C, hes going to start on the wing and Rico gives us a guy so we dont need to rush McTavish into being a C or even into the NHL, that value alone makes trading him a bad idea imo

Rico is our 3rd best forward he easily slots into our top 9 at C or LW, realistically he can slot into any of our top 3 lines
Top line
Rico-Zegras-Terry
Line 2 LW
Rico-McTavish-RW
Line 2 C
Comtois-Rico-RW
Line 3 LW
Rico-Lundestrom-RW
Line 3 C
Lundestrom/McTavish-Rico-RW

Finding a spot for him is hardly an issue, finding the right spot for him is the problem

If and when Rico’s time is up in Anaheim, Devils will welcome him back home. He is still ours.

No, you are correct it is right spot over a spot. I think this year is McTavish makes the 23 man he will play on Rico’s LW

Also should have clarified that most of the ones I make are for 23/24 so there is that as well
