    That petry trade is horrid for toronto, dont eant him at half retained for free and gibson is gonna have to show that he's even an ok starter for a season befoee there is any interest in that massive contract

    eh, I'd dig Holl for some RD depth/size.

    Taking on Mrazek's contract would cost more than two 3rds, though. But honestly, I'd be willing to do it - Jarmo has been going on about "weaponizing the cap" for three seasons now. Bout time he did it.

    Best case, he and Tarasov can alternate as a 1B. Tarasov is waivers exempt for one more year. If Mrazek gets claimed, whatever. Maybe retain and flip him more goods. Or buy him out during that final year.

    You get a #3 d man for less than 3.5 million. How is that horrid for Toronto. Its like replacing Holl with a much better player

    The leafs dont need a number 3 defender. Especially an old one coming off an awful season and injury issues, and that's before the comedic trade attached to him.
    Holl was much better and much cheaper than petry this year and was good in the playoffs
