Description
As per everyone else I imagine this will get torn apart LOL

But here goes, I'm a believer that we will get Trotz, I wouldn't have said that a week ago but I'm beginning to believe that its quite possible

The trades below

New Jersey get a replacement RHD for Severson with more term on his contract left in Pionk they also get the most impactful player in the trade with Scheifele. NJ as much as they may like Hischer, Hughes and Mercer with Scheifele makes him expendable IMO, but what do i know? I believe the swap of firsts is evened out by the impact they will get from Scheifele who needs a change of scenery and the devils have the money to resign if he works out there.

Buffalo is getting closer to competing, a 2nd overall pick is more impactful for them than two later firsts and Demelo gives them the perfect D partner for Power that they have been looking for. Demelo while not flashy is dependable and easy to play with, which is great for an impactful rookie like Power.

The Arizona trade.... Chychrun and Crouse already have one foot out the door, surely they need to be dealt this summer (the draft) this has been going on too long now. Its maybe not the massive package they have been holding out for but they get 1st rounder that they want plus a second rounder, Heinola who has high end potential, Stanley is 6'7" need i say more? and Harkins needs more of an opportunity. Perhaps i couldve given the Coyotes the 9th overall pick instead of 16 but i was being greedy, if that's what it takes then find give em pick 9 and they get the NYR pick regardless if its a first (they get vegas pick) or second rounder (they get Buffalo Pick).

I really like Crouse as a 3rd Line LW, but i have him on the 2nd line for now until either A) Barron or Mallot show they can play in the top six (highly unlikely) or at deadline with cap space we accrue we go find a second line LW and push everyone down a spot.

Sign Severson to an extension immediately and next summer move Dillon to allow for Seversons pay raise and bring up Chisholm and let Stastny finally walk and resign Samberg and Barron.

in two years Wheeler is finally off the books, resign Perfetti, and hopefully extensions for Helle and Ehlers. and Lucius takes Wheelers spot at that time.

I'm probably out of my mind but hopefully someone of you are amused.

Regardless if anyone likes these deals or not, I hope Chevy gets this creative this summer... all possibilities should be explored, throw everything at the wall and see what sticks.

Maybe from the Sabres
Depends how much we like Slaflovsky
I think we’d rather target Nemec/Jiricek around pick5 though
But who knows?

As a jets fan I’ve also thought about hischier for scheifele but I just don’t see the devils doing that. Possibly if scheifele has a deal in place with the devils to sign long term. But the jets would still probably have to add IMO

I do like the offer a lot. That being said though, surely Scheif would be getting a pay bump in 3 years, whereas Hischier is still young and locked in for another 5 years on his deal, so idk. Definitely worth considering.

Honestly, you built a good team here. I don't know if i make that Buffalo trade though. I would keep the 2nd overall pick. You could also look at flipping it for a solid #1 right shot defensman. we have too many left shot guys, whether they can play right side or not.

I wouldn't even think about this trade. The Devils are probably the team that need Scheifele the least. We're certainly not going to trade our 23 yr old captain who had the best year of his career for a 29 year old center who is seeking a pay raise in 2 years. Also Severson> Pionk so this deal isn't even close

Really? I get the difference between scheifele and Hischier is decent, just based on point production, but I feel like NJ is getting a bad deal. Jets would need to add IMO.

I can appreciate that... I went to the devils as my understanding is their owners are tired of losing and want to push this year... a big point per game center workin with hamilton on your PP would be a big boost, Severson is a UFA after this next year pionk give you more cost certatainty to try and resign scheifele ,,,i would agree severson is better than pionk but dont underestimate pionk he had a tough year but is better than he showed this season plus youre getting the most impactful player in the trade in scheifele, who while not without his issues more than anything just needs a change of scenery and you willsee a rejuvenated version of him that could be downright scary. you could be right that the devils are not interested but if mercer and hughes keep getting better everyday, hischer is going to become less and less relevant to the devils.

but again what do i know lol

Hischier is going to be one of the best two way centers in the game for the next 10+ years; may have a Selke in his future. He only scratched the surface this year. He also took huge strides this year as our captain. When it comes to Mercer, his best route is to fully convert to RW. He looked good there next to multiple centers and was poor in the faceoff circle anyway.

We could re-sign Alex Edler for about half of Nate Schmidt's cap hit, and we would probably get the same results without having to expend assets to acquire a 31-year-old veteran LD.

If I'm NJ I stick to the plan and draft 2OA...if Slafkovsky is the pick you take him. Lots of youth on the team as Tatar is the only forward over 30.
Scheifele could be 2yrs and out where Hischier is signed for another 5yrs.

Seriously. If he’s not on the top PP to start the year I’m changing teams.

When the Jets put Ehlers' power play unit on first (rarely) they did well. Crazy they went back to their old ways.

In terms of value
Hischier>Schiefele
Pionk>Severson
Difference isn't moving down from 2nd OA
