Wasn't expecting him to re-up with the Blue Jackets, interesting move.

Korpisalo has to have some real dirt on the Blue Jackets. He's not close to being an NHL caliber goalie, and he hasn't been for the vast majority of his career. Good rookie season, and 7 good games in a 9 game bubble playoff run coming off a mid regular season. He's not good

I WAS HAVING A GOOD DAY.

Why? Tarasov is RIGHT THERE. He can back up Elvis, and do it better.

You can never have too many NHL caliber goalies under contract. Unless of course, they're not NHL caliber.

It's better to get Tarasov more play time up in Cleveland so he can develop more. Having Korpi back for one more season as a backup is fine with me!

People getting all up in arms cause we paid 1.3 million to have an okay backup goalie to Elvis is hilarious. Korpi is at worst an average NHL backup goalie. This is fine and if Elvis gets hurt we just call up Tarasov to play and korpi continues to backup Tarasov. Great signing IMO

He's been one of the worst goalies in the league the last 2 years. That's not an okay backup goalie.

Meh, 1.3 to play like 20 games next season, plus he is familiar with the city and the team. Could be worse tbh.

Probably not coming back next season. He’s familiar with the city and only 1.3 for like 20-25 games is cool with me

Why not
He can be a good goalie, it's cheap
Prove it deal, just, if korpy does prove it, it's unlikely he returns to Columbus in 2023-24 ahaha

Purportedly, he had no market elsewhere.

$1.3M feels a bit high, but it’s still cheap, all told. If he’s eating it, we could send him down to CLE. I doubt he’d be claimed.

Can we add a “Meh” rating to the poll?

Of course this comes right as we hear Kukan is going back to Switzerland next year.

Signed the wrong player 😑

Why not, it’s never bad to have goalie insurance and Korpi is a decent backup

People like to bash on him because his stats were bad recently on a bad defence team but it's a good deal for a respectable backup.

Pretty sure Toronto and Edmonton wish the would have their name on top of that contract instead of their present awfull overpaid backups.

Goalie UFA market will be very slim this summer...

Idk I'd be pretty upset if he was playing 20-25 games. If you're trying to tank the season then I guess it's ok.

Eh, I don't know if he and Laine are buds but he's the only other Finn on the team. I still voted no, and would have preferred Tarasov to be the back up out of camp, but if part of the reasoning is to help persuade Laine to stay, I get it.
Worst case scenario, as mentioned above, if he totally implodes you flip him to Cleveland and bring Tarasov in. I don't see them spending to the cap so having a small dead hit on the books for a building year isn't the end of the world.
