I don't think it is quite enough. It might be one piece short. In a best case scenario, Gustavsson might be worth a 3rd round pick, but probably not that much since he is not waiver exempt and is coming off a pretty terrible season in terms of his development. Ottawa is also dealing from a position of weakness with him.
7th Overall, Connor Brown, and Gutsavsson.
Dorion has said the Senators will be a budget team next year. If they are going to sign Fiala to a multi-year 7-8 million dollar AAV contract, they are going to need to shed some cash. Brown makes 4 million in real money, but has a 3.6 million dollar AAV. This makes him a nice piece for Minnesota, who can rent him for a year as a top 9 matchup guy, and then if they are out of the playoffs they will get a 2nd round pick (and maybe a small plus) for him at the trade deadline. He can fit into their tight cap structure, and if needed play as a complimentary guy on one of their top 2 lines. He also doesn't have term to handcuff them.
