If you don't sign Leddy, and have Mackey as 3LD, that means we can afford Tkachuk

As with Mrazek, a 2024 pick is borderline useless on its own.

You don't have the right picks to do it in 2024

You’d have to get the CGY GM to drink a lot of Budweiser to accept that offer

Tkachuk is practically untouchable

Wouldn’t it need to be the Blues to have a Budweiser Offer Sheet?

Maybe, but I suspect Ottawa will push hard to get a contract done ahead of time like they did with Chabot. Not necessarily in fear of an offersheet, but in fear of Tim Stützle playing in a contract year. Whatever his number is right now, it’s only gonna get more expensive as next season goes on.

Brady signed a deal with bud today. Assuming that's where it is coming from

The Flames have their first 4 selections in 2024.

It would be quite the theatre if it happened though lol.

You dont replace Tkachuk by signing a smurf to a 6M deal. Just keep Monahan then OS Stutzle

Maybe at the TDL after he proves he's healthy, not right now.

No that would cost the acquiring team at least a 2nd. Many teams would love to get him at a discounted price right now. He just wont cost assets to move

Look at how many teams missed out on free Tarasenko. Monahan probably won't be that good but 1 year of Monahan for free with the high chance of being able to flip him for value is a great investment

Could be, depends on how he heals. He's a good hockey player hurt at the wrong time with a flat cap.

He should be assumed to be healthy in all trade scenarios since he will just be placed on LTIR if not. Also any acquiring team will have full access to his medical records

That dude is the ultimate “homer”
I had to put him on my ignore list bc he got so ridiculous
Monahan hasn’t been good now for years,
as his point production has spiraled down the drain

Since his peak season of 82pts (4years ago),
he’s dropped to 48pts, then 28pts, to only 23pts this season

Sure, injuries have played a role in his demise
But he isn’t gonna suddenly turn 24 again
Unfortunately, he’s just shot

If CGY wants to dump his $6.4mil cap hit,
I say we demand their 1st
It’s still likely to be a late 1st anyways (they don’t have their 1st this year, so we’d have to take their ‘23 1st)

I love how these fans just act like the Sabres are gonna do them a huge favor without making it hurt

The hips definitely played a roll. But as you said if they want his cap gone it's gonna hurt a bit. Or they hold onto him and he proves he's healthy and playing at a decent level and then move him.

After over 2 years of mediocre play, and a 3rd that wasn’t all that good either, i don’t see a bounce back coming
