A late 1st round pick and a bunch of scrubs doesn't get the 2nd overall pick.

Nashville and Petry reject, Nashville isn't even among the team's interest in Petry or where Petry would waive to.

Arizona and Philly reject.

2OA is not McDavid. Devils get 2 established NHLERS, one good prospect and a late 1st round pick while there is no guarantee the 2OA will ever play in the NHL. This is a lot for Devils that want to be in the playoffs next year.

Couldn't they just try signing Nichushkin or Burakovsky, who are much better players than Andersson without giving up the opportunity of drafting Cooley?
I don't understand why you'd think your trade would be worthwhile for the Devils.

Besides, Devils already have one of the strongest prospect pools so there's no need in adding a B level prospect like Kidney.
