I don’t think it’s gonna make a difference. They’ve literally been awful. It’s insane to me how bad they are 5 on 5 and how little offense or even zone time they can generate. Plus it doesn’t help when the top guys are legitimately invisible out there.

It's pathetic. Defense has been a lot better than Pittsburgh series but they are literally SLEEPING offensively. if they don't win both at MSG it's a wrap.

Yeah that first game was one they needed. They’ve been terrible since the 3rd period of game one. As optimistic as I’d like to be, they need the top guys to step up big time. They can’t expect to win if they generate little to no offense. Of all the teams in the playoffs this year and I’ve seen games from all across the league, they’ve gotta be the worst team at generating offense 5 on 5 (maybe second worse with Dallas). I don’t think McDavid could save them with how mediocre they’ve been 5 on 5 and he’s on legit god mode this playoffs.

I feel MSG sparks the fire in them similar to Boston last series. If they head back to CAR tied 2-2 and have their games in check, we have a chance to win this series in 7. Gotta believe and hope we get Goodrow and/or Blais here soon.

For sure. On another note, you gotta be pleased with how the kids have played. Oftentimes they look like our best players even if it doesn’t translate into huge point totals. Gallant seems to be giving them more responsibility and shows more trust in them by playing them in key situations.

5 X 5 offense has been an issue all year, and will have to be addressed in the off season. But for now- maybe they get a little O generation if they replace Braun w/ Zac Jones? Or maybe go 11F/ 7D...sitting Reaves?? Without the spark he can contribute (which he hasn't so far) their forwards are essentially a man down with Reaves in the lineup.

But as far as their play is concerned- I think they've played pretty well...much better than they played against PIT. For sure CAR is the better team (I think we all knew that coming into the series)...but NYR seem to be playing much better in front of their net, and losing (2) 1 goal games, the difference has been that they have not taken advantage of the chances they've had. If Kakko hits the open net - they most likely win game 1...and if Strome shoots puck through ADA- last night's game would have a much different feel to it. The only negative I'd dwell on is Panarin's play...unless he wakes up, Drury (of course his hands are tied) might need to rethink about what this team is paying 11 M per for.

I personally can’t see how they’ve done well when they get pinned in their end for long periods of time and generate absolutely nothing. The entire top 6 needs to wake up imo, but yeah Panarin has been invisible.

Along with 5x5 offense- getting pinned in their own end is another thing they've dealt with all year....when I say they've played well- I've seen "growing up" of LaF, Chytl, Kakko, and Miller. Lindgren is showing lots of heart. Trouba has been effective. In spurts Mika and Kreider have been real good. But let's face it: for this team to advance, the current "formula" requires Shesty to play out of this world. I'm not giving up yet on this team, but as long as they keep things close with CAR- winning a round and keeping things close with a legit Cup contender is a great experience for this group...definitely a different feeling than when they got annihilated by CAR 2 years ago!
