Point of this is not to make mock trades. These are just all trades that I don’t think are out of the realm of possibility that would make the Leafs both a better team and still fit under the cap. The Leafs would be shedding out a good chunk of assets in the Gourde trade, and a solid bit for the underrated Asplund as well. However; the Leafs have all of their 1sts, as well as plenty of prospects to offer, and whatever picks they fetch for Kerfoot and Holl. They have the ability to make these moves

        No thanks from Buffalo
Asplund is a young guy who plays a good 2way game that we can move up & down the lineup
        No interest in Kase
        No interest moving Asplund

He also has great line chemistry with his fellow Swede Olofsson.

I understand not wanting to move him. He’s a very very solid piece, but I think he would definitely be worth the price needed to be paid. The way I see it, he’s very similar to a Kampf/Engvall type but cheaper and younger, with a bit of a higher offensive ceiling than Kampf. In a situation where he were to be moved, I think Kase would be a good guy moved back, as he plays both wings and special teams, and while his defensive game is average compared to Asplund’s great defence, Kase has a higher offensive level, particularly goal scoring wise. If a deal were to be done, what would need to go to Buffalo to fetch Asplund? Whether including Kase or not

It doesn’t make any sense at all for us to move Asplund
So it would have to be something u guys wouldn’t wanna give up- a significant overpayment
And even then, we still might not do it

Asplund is gonna be the future anchor of our defensive forward line, bc next season is the last year that Okposo & Girgensons are under contract

Even your 1st wouldn’t make sense for us (imo)
And u guys wouldn’t do that anyways
He’s just not a guy that is gonna get moved
Not only bc of the role he plays, but also bc he’s cheap and won’t ever cost us a lot

That’s fair tbh. He’s a valuable piece to the team and sometimes it makes sense just to hold onto pieces like that. With that said, I’m hoping Adams isn’t as smart and trades him to us for below market value, coming from a Leafs fan! One could only wish lol

First, IMO Adams is not that smart, but it appears Jason Karmanos is directing the trades now (Reinhart, Ristolainen, Eichel all had much better returns than Hall and Montour that were made before Jason was hired).
Second, it appears most Sabre fans are in love with Asplund, I really like him but other Sabre fans basically think he is untradable.
If his defensive skills were so valuable why does he only spend only 00:45 SH TOI, seven other Sabres have a higher SH TOI than he.
Third, Buffalo has many options at LW if there was a decent offer for a GK or RHD, I would trade him.
Fourth, Ondrej Kase would not be the return that would motivate Buffalo to trade him.

EDIT, NO NHL GM would give up a first for a defensive forward who does not hit, does not block shots, and does not PK.
Love is delusional, just ignore his comments.
