I understand your thought process tho. Isles fans keep positing about Matt Grzelyck and Mike Reilly for some reason I don’t understand. But those guys are also buying out Josh Bailey so they don’t know what they r talking about Lmao.

No, Wahlstrom is the isles only winger under 25 and he has a skillset that compliments Barzal

How has Wahlstrom been? I feel like I don't hear about him all too much.

Had a great rookie season, started the 21-22 season producing like a top 6 forward and then Trotz took him off both PP units and only gave him 6-8 min TOI. I have a feeling that was one of the reasons why he was fired

Did Trotz not like him? Was his lack of minutes a reason the Islanders faltered this season?

I don’t think Lou is the champion of the youth lmao. Has more to do with the fact he would rather fire someone too early than too late.

No. I think the real issue with Chara and Greene. Also the obsession they had with Matt Martin and Ross Johnston being in the lineup hurt younger guys like Kieffer Bellows and Oliver Wahlstrom.

Lou likes vets but he also likes “his guys”. There’s a reason why Lou tries to acquire anyones he’s drafted in the last 20 years. Wahlstrom was Lous 1st pick with the isles and in his 2nd season Trotz decides to bury him. That’s not the only reason Trotz was fired but it definitely played a role

Any young player who has to go through Trotz to make the NHL is going to go through hell. Trotz doesn’t like young forwards with skill, never has

Bellows isn’t a regular and probably never will be on the isles

Wahlstrom is still on his ELC and I would want to see how he plays under Lambert before moving on from him - the hope is that he can develop into the 20-25 goal scorer you'd be acquiring in JDB.

I like the idea of acquiring Grz for LD2 though, and JDB would be an upgrade over some of our middle-6 wingers, but I just don't think the teams lineup the way you'd want - unless Boston is interested in taking on solely futures (thinking Simon Holmstrom + one of the D prospects like Bolduc/Wilde + picks) in this type of deal. More likely it just winds up being a pick for one of Grz or Reilly.

Played well under Lambert during his tenure as interim HC. He should be a regular based on his ability so I have to disagree with you here.

It sounds like Lou is looking to improve the offense from the blueline this offseason. Not sure Gryz is that guy.
