If there's room on Boston's top line for DeBrusk, there's room for him on one of the league's worst teams. That trade is an absolute steal for Detroit. No way would I be happy with that return as a Bruins fan.

A terrible Red Wing team has no room for Jake DeBrusk? For the paltry sum of Smith and a 3rd? If you are going to sign a better player in free agency it will cost a minimum of 5M with lots of term which isn't exactly "for free".

Is it because it's not part of the "YzerPlan" which is code for ignore making incremental improvements for as long as possible, be inept for an inordinate amount of time and reap the benefits of being able to draft stud players all while maintaining icon status in Detroit.
