I think the refs were playing that call safe: get it to overtime and they're absolved of it.

When I first saw the replay I honestly thought this was going to be waved off because there was a clear intent on getting that puck in net via leg.

Imo the key thing in this replay is the fact that Coleman's intent is to get the puck to the net no matter what, but his stick is being lifted ten feet in the air so there's no way he's scoring that "legally" in that sense.
