Scheif trade

Description
WSH trade was a product of Heinola likely never really getting a shot here and Samberg being more utilized. So that trade is more of a needed depth move (don't know if WSH makes it though).
Dillon moved for cap reasons and to allow Samberg into the lineup Stanley waiting in wings. Scheif trade is about value. LAK have a lot of RD and will need to move some scheif on a great contract for C and they're pick won't be high and Turcotte has potential but is looking more like a Cody glass situation where could be a bust but value could be had if h3 develops. Thoughts?

Big risk with Turcotte that he develops into a T6C, that plus he just suffered a 2nd concussion if I recall.

Might be as good as you're going to get. Main point is getting Durzi who could potentially be your poor man's top RHD

I know Durzi is already in the league but I wonder if it wouldnt be better to get Grans, he's younger, bigger and cheaper.

I agree. Durzi looks like he'll top out as a DeMelo lite type of guy. Not appealing at all if moving Scheifele. That's a three maybes, all fairly longshots, type of return.

I'm not much of a DeMelo believer either, I'd trade him, put Schmidt back with Morrissey and keep Dillon, still believe this defense needs to get bigger and tougher to play against, this defense here has one guy bigger than 6' and they're mostly lightweight guys, really don't see that working.

I know what you're saying. That's why I compared Durzi to DeMelo. I figured you wouldn't be interested in adding another similar player.

Durzi looks to be more of an offensive dman than DeMelo is but to me why acquire a guy who's really not much different than the dmen you already have, gotta give credit to LA for giving all these young dmen they have a chance to actually play meaningful NHL minutes. Also I really wonder if Gawanke couldn't be as good or better than a lot of these guys, he's gifted offensively, has a solid shot and is a great skater plus he's a bit bigger, not huge but listed as bigger than Schmidt, Morrissey, Pionk and DeMelo.
Really think they need to start looking internally and beyond just Heinola and Samberg to see what they have in the organization.

If they could only fix one thing in the offseason for me it'd be the bottom six, they're going nowhere with little to no secondary scoring. Having said that they're also going nowhere with a top D pair of Morrissey/DeMelo so they need to fix that too if they want to be any better than they currently are, new coaching and new systems will help but it can't fix a lineup that just isn't good enough.
