I think someone beat me to it, but I’m on the Samsonov train if they can only keep one. Better upside and he’s got a reasonable QO. Just needs better defense around him.

Would love to have Vanecek (or Sammy) in New Jersey.
Feel like NJD and WSH would make for really good trade partners this offseason.

They definitely have a history of making trades. Marcus Johansson and Jonas Seigenthaler among them. Devils are definitely in a position to exploit other teams' cap situations. And Tom Fitzgerald has said he's looking to add another Goalie.

Should the Capitals go the route of bringing in a more experienced goalie, I can definitely see something happening. I think the Caps could look to try and pry Sharangovich away from the Devils to play 2C, but I think the more likely option would be picks. Maybe Zacha but I kind of rule that out since it didn’t happen at the deadline.

What do you all think is most important to Giroux in picking his next team? Money, location, or chance to win the Cup?

Florida and Colorado are probably up against the cap and all I've heard previously was when it was reported he was doing his due diligence on Ottawa a month or so ago.

2 + 3. He wants a good place to raise his family, but he also wants a cup

I wonder how low he'd go to be with a true contender. I've got up to $3-3.5m for a few years worked out for Paul returning to Tampa, but if someone values him like Coleman in the offseason then there's that amount unspent.

Regardless of if that's even remotely possible, he is one of those players we'll look back one day and wish they'd won at least once if retires without one. Hopefully he finds a good spot.

He either signs a 1 year deal with Tampa (2.5mill range) or signs a 3-4 year deal with Colorado

As you got to think he wants to win rn vs. maximizing profits

Funny thing is some people say if you slow down the hand shake you can see him look to the side and mouth off "should have picked Colorado"

So we all agree its gonna be Toews 2.0 right

Hes gonna get traded for 2 2nds sign 8mill x 8 years and just go on a tear and produce numbers that will make Wild fans go "so um how much did we get for him again...."

I look forward to watching Steve Dangle’s Kevin Fiala trade tree in 10 years from now

More that I think of it, the Devils should keep their 2nd overall pick.

Whoever we get in a trade will either not be worth the pick or would be worth too much (Devils would have to keep adding)

Better off keeping the pick and drafting Cooley, Slaf, or Nemec

I am leaning towards Nemec because have a bigger need of bolstering their defense and there are more options via trade/FA for a forward

Instead of drafting Slafkovsky, they should sign Marchment to a 2-3 year deal and draft Nemec. I feel like the Devils would be drafting for need, Nemec or Cooley is BPA at 2

Trade for Fiala and Talbot
Draft Nemec
Sign Marchment (or any physical scoring 3rd liner)

If you’re trading for Fiala, it probably means you don’t have a first next year

Have you heard the things Guerin was saying about Fiala
He would be lucky to get future considerations for him at this rate

I wouldn't trade an unprotected 2023 first for Fiala. If it's playoff protected then yes

He kinda screwed himself over by degrading Fialas value but I still think he’s gonna get some value back
