this is what our Kawhi deal equivalent would be

Initial Creation Date: May 23, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I suspect Kane would waive. Goes to a contender that's very close to his hometown of Buffalo, might even re-sign for that reason.

I think Chicago takes it. They get way younger here

JT-Marner too, people forget how insane they were for that year together before Matthews and Marner got paired together... JT dropped 47 goals with him. But ofc Kane-Matthews would be the main event

This is literally the only Nylander trade that I was impressed with.

I would be really psyched if it happened but I don't think Chicago makes that deal, even though it makes sense to do it.

Good call, stacked top-6 and you get Kane's extensive playoff experience for the postseason.

I think if offered they'd bring it to Kane and let him make the call on this one. They need to get younger but would respect his decision, and I think he'd waive to be 2.5 hours from home, on a cup contender, playing with the next-gen best American player

I don’t think Chicago would make this deal. Nylander only has 2 years left on his deal and I can’t imagine him re-signing in Chicago unless they overpay. They probably look for more controllable assets in a Kane trade

I agree with you Kane might be all for it but Chicago has their own problems.
    (1) They were up against the cap this year and they have a bunch of RFAs to sign (Strome, Kubalik, Dach and Kurashev), which makes it hard for Chicago to retain salary (unless a 3rd team got involved)
    (2) Both of their goalies are UFA's this year, so they need to extend them or find replacements.

One thing that might help is that next year they're getting 4.2 million dollars in dead cap off of the books from the money they retained on Fleury and Maata.

TLDR: Chicago has a cap mess on their hands that might make this kind of deal difficult. Although I'd love if this could be pulled off. Kane-Matthews FTW.

Decent Nylander trade, but I'd imagine Chicago would want something like high level prospect, top nine and a first type of a return; not someone who could leave in two seasons, and Nylander likely would if Chicago is in the middle of a rebuild.

If CHI is trading Kaner...then I'm not sure why they wouldn't retain the full 50%. It's not like they'd need that extra $1.5M in cap space anyway. Knies would certain be required in any Kane trade. Nylander would likely just get flipped. If they're trading Kaner then they're officially tanking. Not interested in keeping Nylander who will all but guarantee they'll be picking #9-12. If this happened, then certainly Debrincat to NJD would likely happen too.

CHI doesn't have a cap mess in the least bit. This just isn't a good trade for CHI to make heading into the first year of their rebuild. Nylander just isn't the right kind of piece for CHI to be targeting in trade.

Doubt that makes sense. Nylander is a 2 year rental and doesn't help Chicago's rebuild as such

The only thing would be to flip him. Maybe retain 50% on him and see what offers are out there? Think EDM would want Nylander for 2 years at $3.5M per?

Then the question becomes do you get more for Kane half retained or Nylander half retained and is it enough to make it worthwhile?

Yeah exactly. That's why Knies is a must. Otherwise send him to NYR...the state Kaners from and pair him with Panarin. THAT'S something he might waive for.

Sure but what do you get back, a couple late 1sts? I wouldn't move Kane for that personally. I think we'd have to get a top tier prospect to move Kane otherwise late picks or B+ prospects just aren't worth jeopardizing revenues and Kane's legacy
