that’s the first NJD offer for Meier i’d gladly accept. if anything I would say it’s an overpayment. 23 1st Holtz and Ty smith would be my goal and i would even add a 3rd going back to NJ for that.

Wha?

Devils shouldn’t do any of those trades.
Definitely should not resign Gillies.

Keep Severson and extend him. TB trade is just silly.

No reason to pay to move Johnsson. After bonus his makes league minimum.

And too much for Meier.

I'd say Holtz + 2023 1st (top 3 or 5 protected) would get you Meier.

to NJ for that.

Who's scoring goals for us if Timo leaves? We already one of the worst scoring teams, might as well move the Sharks to the new Cuda rink, cuz that's about all they'll draw, as a defacto AHL team.

Its the tear down that would finally begin. if you did this you move Reimer, buy out vlasic after next season and make the best deal for Burns you can

if your rebuilding and tearing down you don’t buy out Vlasic till you actually need the extra cap. but yea a partial tear down tanking of next year and getting a top 3 pick in 23 combined with the 20, 21 and hopefully decent 22 haul would put us on a fast track back to playoff contention.

I appreciate you have a pick attached to Johnsson. Most Devils AGM have us giving up a 3rd. This is realistic. Good work op.

sometimes it’s necessary, or you take the step back get futures for Meier and then go out and land a big fish in FA! get a guy like Forsberg and that fills Meier hole for about 1 mil more than we will pay Meier next season, and you have that top prospect and that first to help with depth and prospect pool.
that’s a win win to me!

Meh, I'm an A's fan so I'm used to empty stadiums at this point.

That would bring us a chance to build a new core around Eklund and Bordeleau. That combined with a bit of luck in the draft could be the making of us in 3-4 years, so it does make sense in the long term for our team to do this. I unfortunately don't see Will willing to make these drastic changes (see what I did there?), but this would be the right call in the long-haul.
