If i were FLA, I’d do that trade

Buffalo absolutely declines
No one is giving a 3rd for Schmidt with that contract & spotty play this past year or so

Very meh on Dillon, but I'd be relatively indifferent if this Detroit trade happened.

I like that trade as a Panthers fan. As long as Stanley know how to block shots and Scheifele can deflect shots, I think Panthers would make that trade.

The Jets should not trade their 2023 1st, could be a lottery pick.

I think I'm more interested in Dillon for a 3rd than Schmidt for a 3rd.

Or any 1sts, this is actually an original build, props to that, why are right handed large skilled dman such unicorns. What’s your weegar thoughts? Would like a debrusk gamble also if they went this route, try to get some more secondary scoring in top 9. Not sure jarnkrok coming

Well aren't we always excited for the draft as Jets fans?
We have such a good draft and develop plan aren't we always looking for the next prospect to fawn over?

We're always looking for the next stud prospect to come along and hopefully save the day in Jetsland so we shouldn't be disappointed with a lottery pick... 😆

Only way that trade comes close to happening is if that’s a top 10 pick though lol…

Schmidt has been way too inconsistent the last year (or 2 even)
We’d want someone more steady for his partner
Otherwise, we just go with Jokiharju in that spot

Schmidt just isn’t a guy we’d be looking at
Especially with that bad contract

If Weegar had one more year on his contract, I'd say yes immediately. This way I'm not so sure altough it's very close

...And Detroit would rather have Schmidt, let's swap.

I honestly haven't watched a ton of Weegar so can't really say, I know there's many who are really high on him but that may be the live and die by analytics types so Idk, he'd probably help and is an improvement on DeMelo but is that a legit top D pair?? I keep thinking how the Jets D core was at least brought up to respectable NHL standards with the Dillon and Schmidt acquisitions but the top pair of JoMo/DeMelo has to be one of the worst top D pairs in the league, having said that I really don't see any team trading their #1 dman, at best they might be able to acquire some teams #2 dman like Weegar, guess Chycrun or Provorov could be available which are their teams #1 dman but what would either cost to acquire.

I do like this build and it does look different than most which is nice to see, think I'd send Florida DeMelo though so they'd get a RHD replacement and would keep the 3rd or Stanley.
Would also keep Dillon and have Kovacevic or Gawanke on the 3rd pair with Dillon, so a defense of JoMo/Weegar, Samberg/Pionk, Dillon/Kovacevic.

Whats your thoughts on the playoffs, do you think the Jets are close to being on the level of the leagues best? I don't see it myself, think they're more than just a tweak or two/couple minor adds away from being on the level of the best teams in the league.

And if you actually draft well, you're not going to be developing those players well and then you suddenly realize somehow you did it and those dman prospects are NHL ready but now it's too many of them and someone needs to go.. lol

Jets are caught in a terrible spot, do everything right and double down on current and still not good enough, trade back into a 23 and under rebuild and alienate the connors and ehlers. So probably best but worst case scenario is tear it right back to the studs with the samberg/lucious/perfetti. Just see at least 3 teams in central being better than the jets for at least 2/3 years minimum. Honestly I try to pull second overall from devils if they are considering selling, and helly out the door first, and then ship the works. Offer a trip closer to home for Connor. Possibly ehlers to his buddy in Colombus or rebuy in. Give Dubois the option also to go 5x contract or shipped to a destination of his choice. Then scheifele/wheeler/Lowry. And defenseman. Jets probably doing opposite and bringing in trotz. Team could do a conference final if everything clicks perfectly, but never going to win a physical series where they will get bullied. They may not even with a special team series. Goalie could probably steal one and possibly win one 5vs5, but the squad has deficiencies that can’t be covered up or drafted out of them without a tear down. Blueline will never be large enough or physical enough, and the skill will age out before the blueline comes of age. Too bad that scheifele wasn’t 3 years younger and laine was there instead of wheeler, and a magical sergachev and parylko adds lol
