#16 and #28 get you #9, not #7, let alone #7 plus #39

1. Ottawa is bringing back Matt Murray for another season.

2. Your pick at #9 might have to be involved if you want to move up to #7.

Remove the 2nd and it's closer. It would really depend on how badly they want to get rid of that Murray contract given they have several RFA's to sign, and the comments Dorian made about not spending to the cap if they can't fill the arena. Murray is owed 15 million real dollars the 2 remaining years, so they may not like the possibility of paying that. That's a really big maybe though, I don't think anyone knows what the spending will be like with ownership now.

The Minnesota-Edmonton trade from last June is the perfect model for this deal, whereby Minnesota moved up two places to grab Jesper Wallstedt in return for the 90th overall pick. Because there's a big difference between moving from 22 to 20 and from 9 to 7, I'd think this one would require Buffalo's third-rounder (which is #73).

I suppose if there was someone at seven I had to have but really I'm fine with 9, 16, and 28, after 3 these guys are rated all over the place - if anything I might try to use a second and third to move up 28 if a player I liked fell.
