Description

MacDermid sits on the bench - only comes on if things get out of hand again. Cant have Perron spearing guys in the nuts, throwing elbows during goal celebrations, or cross checking and tackling a player who is on his knees

I didnt miss Burakovsky at all tbh. I dont think he fits well in a 3rd line role so if hes not playing in the top 6 then Im fine with scratching him again with this type of matchup. I think he will get back into the lineup if COL makes the 3rd round

Newhook made a couple weak passes (bit of rust I guess) but otherwise played well and looked pretty good on the PP. I think he stays in so the 3rd line can keep 2 faceoff guys

NAK was one of the weakest links at F last game imo. Take him out of the lineup for MacDermid to make sure Perron stops with the funny business

Lehkonen, Nichushkin, and LOC can rotate in as the RW on the 4th line with Helm and Cogliano while MacDermid isnt playing

I thought Byram was great in a bigger role. Especially on the PP. That lessens the blow from losing Girard. Jack Johnson was okay on the 3rd pair. He has no puck skills but didnt make any costly mistakes so I cant really complain

I was on board with what you were saying until the NAK part, then you lost me.
NAKs been playing some of his best hockey of late. Being physical, heavy on the forecheck, battling in the corners for loose pucks etc.
Didnt miss Burakovsky, hes not effective on the 3rd line. Unless they move Lehkonen down to 3rd line and Burakovsky up to 2nd, dont see him being rushed back into the lineup.
That being said, didnt think Newhook look all that great to be honest.
Dont agree with bringing in MacDermid. Last thing COL needs is MacDermid taking mindless penalties then putting STL on the PP inevitably resulting in the puck in the back of our net.

Newhook was a bit rusty at first but looked dangerous on the PP. I noticed a couple weak passes in the offensive zone but I dont think he was on the ice for a single dangerous scoring chance against. He had a positive impact overall

MacDermid would get basically no ice time. Hes not taking regular shifts, hes just there so Perron doesnt go crazy again. Ideally he wouldnt play but Id like to at least have him as an option if things get heated. COL has enough wing depth that they can rotate wingers to double shift in his place. If they dont put him in now then it basically says nobody is stopping STL from taking runs at Kadri

I think Bednar needs to find a way to get the 3rd line producing again as theyve disappeared in this series.

maybe for 1-2 periods we can try to revive:
Landy-MacK-Rantanen
Nichushkin-Kadri-Burkovsky
Lehkonen-Newhook-Compher
Cogliano-Helm-LOC

2nd line minutes might kick start Burakovsky.
Lehkonen can help drive play and get Newhook and Compher on the scoreboard.
