No from NYI. Not nearly enough and we'd only replace like 1/10th of production with this move.

If NYI is trading Barzal to Detroit, they're asking for Lucas Raymond.

No thanks, Barzal is too expensive to acquire, Would rather just sign a cheaper 2C long term like Andrew Copp, Ryan Strome or Vincent Trocheck.

Take Zadina, Berggren, and the two picks out on Det side, and Barzal out of the Islanders side and you got a deal.

??????. How do figure the Isles lose so much "production". Give the Isles 7m to sign a centre, and that draft pick. Now, not saying the Isles should do the trade, but you have to look at the trade package as what it is...young assest to the Isles and big cap space.

I'd expect more from someone who's avatar is Muttley! The Laff-a-Lympics were AWESOME!

Barzal is only 2 years older than Zadina and had almost as many points in 73 games this year (59) as Zadina has in his 160 career GP (61).

Berggren looks like an interesting prospect who might match Barzal's production - but as a wing, not a center. And throwing in #8 in a medicore draft and a 3rd rounder next year just aren't enough to make up the difference.

As far as the cap, Barzal's $7M goes out but Zadina needs a contract this summer. Even if you sign him cheap ($2M?) you're only going to have $5M of surplus left to replace Barzal. The UFA centers this summer are either significantly older than Barzal (Malkin/Giroux/Kadri), guys the Islanders already moved on from (Strome), or guys that are arguably worse than Barzal and will be signing for more than $5M (Copp/Trocheck). This definitely makes the Islanders a worse team.

Wings probably pass. Don't like the idea of trading 3 NHLers for 1 at this point in the rebuild. I would rather give Zadina another year and see what we get out of Berggren/ 8OV then trade for Barzal. Hes a good NHLer but doesn't move the needle enough for me to move this kind of package for him.
