Canes pass. Muzzin is too injury prone to be useful, and the Canes don’t have the cap space for this. And if you really want the Canes to do this for the Leafs, you better have at the very least your 2023 first on the line.

Lol what a ridiculous statement, add a first to take a guy that just played a very good seven games against Tampa playing 22+ minutes per night. There'll be team willing to pay, thought he'd make sense paired with Pesce on that 2nd unit

Leafs can realistically add another 1M and pay to trade Mrazek away rather than a BO

yea right around $6m is where i think the avs might walk away. i think nuke would chose to re-sign in colorado if they match.

I agree, I'd just love to see him and Kadri in TO - they're a big reason why the Avs are so good this year

Yeah let's give Kadri 8 million until he's nearly 40 and a 50 point winger 5 million and expect that to not blow up in our face. This is ridiculous. Didn't Bunting show everyone that we don't need to over pay guys?

Why would be trade for Muzzin when Skjei has perfect chemistry with Pesce, and not to mention Skjei is a hell of a lot less injury prone. Rest assured, the Canes won’t move Skjei down to the third pair just to give Muzzin more minutes, especially when Skjei would be more than likely just to end up back on the second pairing during the season. And the Canes won’t put 5mil on third pairing when that 5mil could go into a contract for Forsberg, Burakovsky, or even Nichushkin. Muzzin holds no value to the Canes, and considering the situation the Leafs are in, the Canes won’t help the Leafs for free. Need I remind you of a certain Patrick Marleau trade?

36 isn't really that close to 40 and he had 53 in 62 games and is elite defensively. $5M for Nuke is a bargain but I guess I'd rather just have Kase

No one should give a 31 year old that much money and term. That will absolutely not age well

No, I wasn’t comparing Marleau to Muzzin. I was comparing the situation the Leafs were in and how much it cost them.

You're literally comparing them identically as you're asking for the exact same package

My mistake, I thought it was more term. Either way. That's way too much money and term for a guy leaving his prime. He will never match what he did this season. I wouldn't give him 6 million to Kadri. Like the guy but let's just let go of nostalgia

Someone is going to make a mistake with Kadri. Let it be the AVS. He will never replicate this season.

Why should I not ask for the same package? A cap move is a cap move. Until the Leafs fix their cap situation, history will repeat itself, no? Muzzin might have value to the Leafs, but to a team like the Canes, he has no value whatsoever. Skjei is easily better, less injury prone, and younger. There is no need for the Canes to make a move for Muzzin. And if they were to make a move on Muzzin, it would very likely handicap what the Canes do with their forward core, which in turn could lead to the Canes missing the playoffs. So, if time is circular, why should the Canes not ask for a first if it means missing out on the playoffs?
