Dallas isn’t giving you Jamie Benn for OEL, never even if OEL was in his prime. But I mean other than that this team is good

I never thought I could say this, but the defence is worse…

That's a hard pass from Montreal, even if Petry didn't want to go to the states.

Really? I personally think thats one of the bigger upgrades. Petry is like Tanev and Hughes and Tanev was a top 10 pair in the league when they were together. Dumba > OEL > De Haan > Myers IMO

Yeah I figured as much, I really like the idea of a Drouin - Wright - Boeser line though. That was my thinking going into the thread

VAN is not moving Boeser, especially for that return.

3 years of a declining Petry is so much worse than Myers. OEL is also better Dumba imo (disregarding contract), Dumba has these defensive lapses and hasn't been the best recently

Yeah I mean it essentially boils down to bad contract for bad contract. I think Dallas really needs a culture reset there, I'd move Benn and Seguin both and truly build around Robertson, Hintz , Oettinger and Heiskanen

Drouin is almost definitely gone by next offseason and Montreal is no position to pay Boeser his qualifying offer. Dvorak is still young and useful to have from a center depth POV and downgrading from Petry to Myers is less than ideal.

Ah so both MTL and VAN hates this deal, I feel like thats the definition of a good trade IMO

Petry at least has shown he can be an elite defender, Myers is a pylon everytime I see him on the ice. Hughes - Petry would immediately be a top pairing in the league

Hes got another year on his deal though right? I feel like he'd be a solid deadline move for you guys

Minnesota declines. They aren't in position to trade for JT Miller, nor keep him. Plus it was made clear dumba isn't getting traded. Jt Miller being a rental isn't what Vancouver fans think he's

Fair enough, but I feel like Miller on the Wild is a match made in heaven. Miller and Boldy together would be a treat to watch

Well Minnesota can't keep him . Guerin isn't interested in paying high prices such as 1st and more for rentals

These are some pretty bad trades for the Canucks.

Can get a far better return for Boeser.

OEL won’t get traded, the only team he’s probably waive for is Boston who isn’t a fit.

Pearson is definitely not a cap dump.

And for the Minnesota trade, Miller with retention > Fiala, 15th OA > Minnesota’s 1st, and with the Canucks already lacking prospects they should not be trading Rathbone

Call me crazy but I'd do Benn for OEL. OEL is two years younger, and costs (I believe) $2.5m less and is only signed for (I think) one year longer. Benn might consider it because he's from BC and OEL might because he'd be in a better system (not by much though).

      Defense is still brutal.

Dumba is not the player everyone seems to think he is. Struggles to control play, below average in zone defence, and his scoring isn’t very impressive. He’s not much of a step up from Myers

Petry is well past his best before date. No indication he would bounce back and his contract is just as bad as OEL.

Based on underlying numbers, OEL outperformed both of them this year.

De haan is not a top 4 Dman at this point in his career. Steady 3rd pair guy I guess.

Top 6 is worse as well losing miller and Boeser, Dvorak is fine as a 3C but Jamie benn is not a top 6 forward at this point in his career. I like Fiala but he’s not an elite piece.

      Just brutal
