Easy pass for the Rangers, and Reaves is no cap dump. He's not going anywhere.

Asplund is the best piece in the deal considerably. Lundkvist is not developing all that well and reaves has zero impact on the game. Peg fans will say that isnt enough and we need to add both power and dahlin for their second line centerman

Very easy no for Winnipeg. Too much unneeded quantity and no real quality going to Winnipeg.

If the Jets are trading Scheifele, they aren’t trading Dubois

And we don’t have a huge hole on the right side,
especially if Dahlin stays over there or we sign Letang

With that statement you just showed how little you know about the Rangers and the impact Reaves has on the team. Absolute ignorance.

Reaves isn't a cap dump and you don't trade a good prospect for scraps because he doesn't have a spot in the lineup

That's a lot give up for to acquire second line centre Dubois. And for 8m? OK that might be going rate.
But wouldn't the Sabres better by paying a UFA about the same price and keep their young assets?

I guess it depends on if you need players in those positions or not. I view it is trading away our franchise C for a 40 point, injury prone C, LW prospect (which we don't need at all), LD prospect (which we need even less), 16OA and then a 2nd round pick next year.

Buffalo has a lot that I would want, but this isn't it. No top player is being traded for 5 magic beans. They need to up the quality and reduce the quantity. Where's 9OA? Krebs? Levi/Portilo? Jokiharju? Quinn?

This is just a bunch of stuff the Buffalo wants to give away and a hope that the Jets say "oh, look at all the dimes, here take my dollar"

I don't know if any team besides Jets fans think Dubois is a franchise centre. 49th overall scorer for centres in the NHL. 5th highest scoring for the Jets (per game). That reeks of second line albeit a good one. Teams with cap like the Sabres can just sign a UFA for the price that Dubois is going to get and keep their assets.
Now I don't blame the Jets for not wanting to trade him, But hypothetically would the Jets be better overpaying Kadri 9m X 4 years and making that trade with Buffalo by trading 8m Dubois.

What does he do? score? make plays? McDavid has more hits then him, hes not great defensively, doesnt really scare anyone because if he jumps them he will get an instigator

Sure. Yet Reaves & Goodrow are instrumental in adding 20lbs of muscle to every single player on our team. That's quite obvious if you follow NYR

you can have Lundkvist, but JPP is the one coming back, not Asplund. Rangers keep the 3rd.
Reaves is a better 4th liner than Bjork, that guy stinks...

Lundkvist has a higher ceiling, no question. tough to crack the lineup when you have Fox, Trouba and Schneider ahead of you.
Asplund on the other hand - the guy has had 3 seasons to crack the top 6 on atrocious Sabre rosters and can't even come close, 3rd liner at best.

Now schneider is an allstar defencemen... why dont the rangers just keep all their players and amazing prospects then? I am sure the goalie has had nothing to do with team success

what are you even talking about? make sense for me guy.
never said Schneider was an all-star, just that Lundkvist is going to have trouble displacing him from the lineup.
this makes him expendable, which is why i would be okay with the Ranger's making a move that included Lundkvist.

you are getting awfully defensive about a 3rd line guy that will struggle to put up 40 points in the NHL.

You cant say lundkvist has extreme potential if he cant take over the 6th best defenceman on your team is what i am saying mike. Are you taking about peterka or asplund now? Asplund's best asset is his defensive play if you look into his underlying numbers and he improves the players around him. For buff they dont have many players like that as opposed to young dmen. lundvist isnt going to play on the PP or top 4 in buff with their current stock of young dmen. I would not be surprised if you had looked into asplunds numbers tho if you are sticking up for reaves and goodrow or really your team in general
