Youve shown 1 set of images. I can just as easily counter with JFresh's cards which clearly favoured Beauvillier last year.

Look at the gap in EV offense. It's not even close.

The images you are both setting show different things. The Athletic's images look at the current performance of players and projects it forward based on past performance. Jfresh's cards attempt to isolate the impact of each player from his teammates and competition so that you know how that player would impact a team if dropped into any random lineup.

@Ledge_And_Dairy your images our outdated but your point is still correct. Kerfoot if you factor in 2021-2022 is an elite defensive forward with league average offense. Beauvilier is a significantly above average offensive player with league average defense.

My proposal was that Beauvillier in Toronto's system could put up 65-70 points while Kerfoot likely wouldn't ever put up more than 55. But Kerfoot can kill penalties and prevent goals significantly better. They are about equal value to their teams overall but given Toronto has Kampf, Kerfoot is not needed at $3.5M. Beauvillier's skillset suits our needs better while the Islanders have stated they want better team defense which often means defensive forwards like Kerfoot.

I see this trade as equal value since Toronto takes on about 1M in dead cap from the difference between Beauvilier and kerfoot plus the penalty for burying Panilk.
Kerfoot and Beauvilier as players (cap hit not considered) are equal.
Muzzin = Varlarmov
3rd + 1M in cap space (mentioned above) = Mrazek.

Your math is wrong. The Islanders aren't coming out $1M ahead in this deal before you get to Mrazek.

Cap hit for Beauvillier + Varlamov + Panik(buried) = $4.15M + $5M + $250K = $9.4M
Cap hit for Muzzin + Kerfoot = $5.625M + $3.5M = $9.125M

It's a difference of $275K.

If you're basically calling Beauvillier & Kerfoot a wash quality wise, the rest of the deal is Muzzin/Mrazek/3rd for Varlamov/Panik. Panik isn't a player the Isles need to move at all (that $250K penalty doesn't matter to them), and getting a late 3rd to take on $3.5M in extra cap (and a bad goalie to boot) isn't something I can see them being interested in.

I'm saying varli and muzzy are each equal value including they cap hits so the difference between their hits doesn't affect trade value

I wouldn't do Kerfoot for Beauvillier without the cap difference of 700k being made up somehow but I would do varli for muzzy with no consideration of the cap

So the leafs are taking on $1M in wasted cap essential is what I'm saying.
