Two Unrealistic Trade Ideas

Description
This allows us to play three scoring lines along with a shutdown fourth line. Highly unlikely Florida accepts this trade unless they want to go for one more cup push before Huberdeau becomes a free agent or signs a massive contract and takes up cap space. Konecny trade is more of a luxury move and probably only happens if Philly blows it up or the Florida trade doesn’t happen, which I don’t think they will. Definitely fixes a few of our problems except for still lacking a true number 1 defensemen.

Why are the Jets giving Schmidt away for nothing and overpaying in the Florida and Philly deals?

Detroit accepts, Player useful.

Florida declines, they're not dealing Anton Lundell for Mark Scheifele who would be a short term 2C for them.

Florida keeps the superior players and the low cap Lundell. I like Konecky but should the Jets trade a first and second rounder for him? In a cap strapped league, can't you find a UFA...maybe not as good and keep your picks?

Florida needs to be shedding some expensive contracts, Not taking more on. And definitely not dealing their best player still on his ELC.

I wouldn’t say overpay, Lundell is going to most likely be one of the best two way centers in a few years and Reinhart is usually a lock to be a 65-85 ppg player each year, those are two really good players I see Florida probably not wanting to part with even for Schiefele and the extra players and draft pick. The only reason I traded Schmidt was because of his contract, 5.9 million is a lot to pay for the next few years for a guy who finished the year as a third pairing defensemen. Heinola is ready for a NHL role and he would have just as much success in the same role with Dillon on the third pair as Schmidt would if not more. Even though I like Schmidt as a person, his contract takes up to much cap space to keep around and not a lot of teams would give much in return.

Signing a good free agent is probably unrealistic since playing in Winnipeg is something most players would prefer to avoid unless they’re getting massively overpaid. A first and a second is probably too much for Konecny but that’s the only way I see Philly parting with him unless they plan on tanking for Bedard. There’s a few cheaper options that might be available though like Kubalik. If Vancouver doesn’t want to keep him around long term, I also think Conor Garland could be an option. If the Jets want to contend again and balance their scoring throughout the lineup, then they most likely need to add another top six or top nine forward.

I'm afraid you're overpaying in both FLA and PHI trade. I love the idea of having Reinhart and especially Lundell but I don't really see FLA moving him.

Giving up 4 first round picks including a PPG 1C is a pretty steep overpay. Neither Florida player is worth 2 1st round picks.

Calling Reinhart a 65-85 point player is a huge range and a big stretch. He's closer to a 50 point player historically with this one outlier career year playing in an all offense, no defense system. It's far more likely, at 26 that he returns to norm, a low end top 6 guy. With his history, buying high on him after a career year like this almost certainly results in a bad trade.

Lundell though is a good target.
