Came out that the Rangers reportedly offered Lundkvist, Chytil, and a 1st for Miller and Vancouver declined the offer. Not sure how taking away the 1st and adding a 2nd, 3rd, and 5th make it any better.

Buddy this is a small return for Miller. A big return would be Kaako Lundqvist and a 1st.

Buddy, you have zero clue. There is ZERO chance the Rangers trade for Miller, so look elsewhere and be prepared to be disappointed with what you get for him.

When has that EVER stopped NHL teams before. This is always the case with situations like this. Teams value certainty and flexibility. They have flexibility in the offseason that they don't at the deadline. The deadline is good for selling teams when they're trading pure rentals, teams that are trading guys with a year or two left on their contracts almost always do better in the offseason (unless we're talking about a guy with very small cap hit that can fit into a contenders core for multiple cup runs).

Are you arguing the Rangers return for McDonagh was good? Or just ignoring the part were I said "unless we're talking about a guy with very small cap hit that can fit into a contenders core for multiple cup runs".

I don't know why you think there wouldn't be a bigger market for one of the most productive players in the NHL over the last 3 seasons in the offseason, especially when that guy plays center and can go up against the other times best players consistently. I get that Rangers fans view of Miller may be coloured by his play before he got to Vancouver, but the rest of us aren't. He'd be a 1C upgrade for over two thirds of the league easily. He's not a guy that you bring in to complement a pre-existing contending core, he's a guy you add to a core because you need a high end C to contend and think he's your guy.

In May 2022 I certainly acknowledge that TBL won the trade which happened several years back...what I'm saying is that NYR would have received less for McD if they waited till that ensuing summer. And both the Devils and Sharks both would have received less than the 1st rounder +, which they both received if they waited till the summer to move those guys. And I'm not sure who you keep referring to regarding the "small cap hit" quote...when McD was moved his Cap hit was around 5M...don't remember if there was any Cap maneuvering to fit him into TBL...but there are always options- not just in the summer.

McDonagh's return was subpar, its hard not to think they'd have been better waiting for the offseason. Goodrow and Coleman got great returns because they made under 2 mil for multiple cup runs. I truly don't know what's so hard to understand about this. More interested teams + more ability to create cap space = more demand.

Rangers offered Chytil Lundkvist and a first. The Canucks turned that down. This is worse

Who's got that kind of cap space for a 2C?

They literally made an offer for him. I don’t understand what’s so hard to believe

Nothing to do with how "good" the return was for McD...what I'm saying is that TBL would have had to fork over less if they waited until that upcoming summer...and the 1st round pick + which NJ and SJ got from TBL at that TDL- that return would have been less over that summer.

My reasoning here has nothing to do with negativity towards Miller because he's an ex Ranger. He is a real good player. His career has taken off since he left NY (and TB)...and he is about to become insanely rich for his efforts- and well deserved! My comments are 100% from a standpoint of what I think a typical market will bare. VAN should receive a big return if they move him...but in a usual market (all it does take is 1 team to really change this) the best return would have been at this past TDL

Hey...we're obviously not seeing eye to eye here- nothing wrong with that.

BEFORE they playoffs, when they could have had him for 2 years of playoffs. That is now down to a 1 year rental, which means his trade value DROPS significantly. PLUS, they have other players named Copp and Vatrano they may want to keep meaning they no longer have any interest in JT. Even you should understand that.

it took 5 more games to score 3 more points than Panarin, who just wasn't himself this year. but definitely, he's 1C material. I retract that comment. Still doesn't make sense to get him at this point. We have other, less expensive options. And Chytil has taken a step, even if he isn't the answer at C.

That doesn't even come close to landing J T Miller, And besides the Rangers don't have the cap long term for him without at least moving out Kreider or Trouba and neither are going anywhere.

Buddy they offered Chytil, Lundqvist and a 1st. Saying that I have no clue is basically saying Drury has no clue. Typical rags fan unknowingly taking shots at their own GM eh?

They can re sign Copp and Motte. Will lose Strome and Vatrano. They can add in a first or something to make it worth it for Nucks. By the time Miller is lost, the plan would be to have copp at 2C and Laf and kaako in top 6.

Ya it is a different world. Rags gonna get ripped by Deangelo and the Canes and are gonna be desperate for JT after they lose Strome and Vatrano for nothing

Your jealousy of the Rangers and their players is awesome, good work. I bet JT and the boys are enjoying WATCHING the 3rd youngest team in the league play in the 2nd round of the playoffs and give the Canes all they can handle.

Copp will be 5.5 minimum and Vatrano 4 mill. Unless they want to ship out one or more of Kaako/Laf/Kandre and sign a dirt cheap bottom 6, the best option would be to keep Motte and Copp because Copp can play centre. Miller gives them a better chance at the cup next year, then after that Laf and Kandre can be signed. The trade I proposed allows the Rags to keep the prospects they want and gives them a first line centre/winger to help them win a cup.

Not being jealous. Just proposing a reasonable trade for Miller backed up by information from Sportsnet 650. Ideally would like to keep Miller but he's looking for his last big payday which the Nucks can't commit to so just exploring what we could get back in a trade with him as a rental. As I said before apparently it was Chytil Lundqvist and a 1st, so I proposed Chytil Lundqvist and some later picks. If you're going to be a homer just don't comment

The Rangers already have a shot at the cup and the experience the young guys are getting now will pay off big time next year and the year after. They have no need for a 1 year rental of JT. NONE. Keep him if he is so good.

Right, the Deangelo comments were not because of your jealousy. LOL. Sure dude. Bottom line......JT NEVER wares a Rangers sweater again. ZERO % chance, and they will be just fine without him.

Nemeth is one of the worst players in the NHL! They already took lagesson unless they are purposely tanking..

On 2nd thought, yes, lets take an all time tank roster! Hoffman line 1. Montembault in nets, lets go!!
