he was a ppg player this year, he is not a ppg player, willy had 80 in 81, hasnt been a top scorer for years, willy has a better contract, imagine hes worth that lmao, delusional

Laine & Nylander are flip sides of the same type of player - Laine is more of a goal scorer and Nylander is more of a playmaker. I think that alone makes Laine slightly more valuable than Nylander - do you think Willie is still a PPG player when he's spending most of his even strength ice time with Boone Jenner & Gustav Nyquist instead of Tavares & Marner?

Lol, Nylander also has not been a PPG player up until this year, exactly the same as Laine. Laine did it with Boone and Voracek on his line and on the PP while Nylander had Marner and Mathews on the PP and Tavares on his line. Laine had a better +/- while on a much worse team defensively. Laine is worth more than Nylander 100%.

Laine has said multiple times he is not walking and will resign, of course as long as he gets a contract he likes.

Yeah, it comes down to whether he signs long-term or not if he doesn't sign though I think he would look to facilitate a trade, his new team would be informed about how much he wants probaly, and then he would fetch a hefty return. If he is traded after signing his QO, he's returning less unless he gets traded for another UFA like Miller

He only had 13 powerplay goals last season which was more than Laine I believe, I think the difference though is that Laine would have more on the Leafs PP. Maybe the Leafs are using Nylander wrong on the PP but they would be fools not to use Laine as a second shooting threat (I think his one-timer is better than Matthews or at least Matthews doesn't really use his slapshot much on one-timers)

I didnt say he was like you did lol, who did laine play with before going to cbj? never put up 80 before, bringin up +/- kinda ends this conversation, and like i said, nylander has the better contract

He had a better +/- last year because the Tavares-Nylander line were like 0 on 5v5 for a good period of time. That's not a factor that's going to make Laine more valuable.

+/- isn't a good stat I get it but it shows Laine isn't a defensive liability that people tend to believe. But you cannot say Nylander is worth more than Laine. I truly believe Laine is worth Nylander + a 1st even if Laine says he wants to leave.

Unless Bertuzzi get's vaccinated, he has negative value to Canadian teams where he would only be able to play about 50 games of the season

If you look in the past 5 seasons though Nylander is a plus and Laine is a minus (he was on a more defensive team in WPG). PPG: Nylander 0.8 and Laine 0.79, Laine is a goals scorer and Nylander is a playmaker. Laine has 20 more PP points than Nylander. Nylander is slightly older, and I already talked about the contract stuff if you want to factor that in. So overall Nylander is less of a defensive liability than Laine but it's a trade off. Laine probably makes Toronto better if they can keep his cap hit down. Nylander might make CBJ better too if he can take it to the next level. Nylander is originally a center too and can win draws (he would need to adjust if they plan to put him in the center position- he was off on positining when he had to replace Tavares ladt post season) , so there's no way Laine fetches him + a first if he wants to leave.

If a deal like this were to really happen I would expect an exchange of picks and top prospects

Trade Bert for THIS guy? Yeah right.

yeah, that guy went on to score two goals right after and single handedly drag his team back into a game they were losing 5-0, Cant have that! gotta get the guy who is so gutless he refuses to get a needle and so he cant be there for his team when they play games in canada.

lol, +/-. Nylander is significantly better than Laine at everything that isnt shooting the puck. Laine isnt worth near as much as nylander

I wonder if Nylander for Laine+Peeke as a base trade can be something if Laine accepts his QO. Toronto would probably need a RFA like Texier (and send back something) or the deal would have to be a sign & trade type of thing before he accepts the QO

LMAO jackets aren’t the ones adding in a Nylander for Laine swap (not that the jackets are trading Laine anyways). Leafs fans are something else

Are we on crazy pills here? Laine for Nylander straight up wouldn't be accepted, but you want us to also throw in ANDREW PEEKE? The guy we literally cannot afford to give up and in fact need more of? And then trying to use contract excuses to also nab Texier?

That's like us trying to shove the idea of sending Nyquist over there for Marner and Sandin. You couldn't possibly be further off base. Not even slightly.

Any move that TOR makes will need to swap cap, which is why Nylander is the easiest choice (big number, young, no movement protection). Taveres would be the obvious choice, but that cap number and the protection will limit what/if they can do anything. The Bertuzzi/Nylander trade makes sense (though, with retention and DET taking on more salary, I can't see the package worth DET's 2nd rounder, but one of the others 2nds yes).

The only way you can do this trade is if you truly believe Bunting is that good, and not just a product of Marner/Matthews, and you are ready to pay him as a UFA in a year, along with finding a RHD and another offensive LW to play on the 2nd line.

Who knows what is going to happen with Matthews in 2 years, if Bunting is real, and if Bert is the missing piece. But the signings actually make TOR much worse than the trade. TOR has 2 more seasons to get a cup, or might have to blow it all up. TBL showed it can be done.

You guys didn't read the post (i wasn't saying Nylander is going to fetch all 3). Priority is signing Laine but if they can't sign him they aren't going to wait for him to walk as a UFA next year at age 25. If you care to have a read of the other posts about Nylander and Laine have at it. You guys are just seeing names and red.

Nyquist and Marner aren't similars, not that I was saying Nylander was going to get Laine and Peeke by himself.

Why do you think so? The retention and overall cap difference? I do think they would rather get someone they can easily keep around for 7-8m on a long term deal. They are getting the better player for cheap

Detroit doesn't want to trade Bertuzzi. He plays both wings equally well, scores at almost a PPG and plays both PP and PK. He's well liked by both fans and the organization and both Bert and Yzerman has publically stated that they are looking to extend his contract as soon as it's allowed in july.

The only way to get him is by making a massive overpayment that nobody could resist.

Compare teams/linemates. Laine would have 100+ points playing with the likes of Matthews/Marner/Tavares.
keep in mind he's only played with the Toxic Jets and rebuilding Jackets
