Chiarot was Floridas worst player and cost them in the playoffs.

We don’t need Chiarot and a huge underpay on Dobson

You can probably strip the fat off that Fiala deal and make it 1st/2nd/Holmstrom/Wilde and see if you can do something with the other assets.

I'd rather keep Bailey at 2x$5M than sign Rakell to 5x$5M. Rakell is 5 seasons removed from his 30 goal days and has been less productive offensively than Bailey. I don't think it's enough of a difference between the two to justify more term at the same AAV & adding $2.66M to the cap this year and next.

Dobson isn't signing 8x$5M, but you can probably bridge him at that AAV and pay him big in 2-3 years. No interest in Chiarot at $4.25M either; take that 3rd you saved from the FIala trade and give it to Boston for Mike Relly at $3M instead.

Also I would *not* want to go in to next season with my only backup being Jakub Skarek. He's still young enough to develop into something useful, but to this date he's put up an .893 SV% in 65 games over 3 years in Bridgeport.

Leafs would likely accept. Fair value both ways

Weegar made a few brutal plays, but he still has a positive impact most of the time. Chiarot was a liability the entire playoffs

Not arguing that Weegar isn't better than Chiarot. However Weegar's brutal mistakes actually costs them games.

But, if they had the chance, wouldn't they sign Campbell to a 5M dollar deal instead?

I'd rather not trade our top 2 picks in an absolutely stacked draft class
