Would the sens be interested

Created by: ReelBigFan
Team: 2022-23 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: May 26, 2022
Published: May 26, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I’m sure the age and last years injury would make this a a high risk offer for the sens. But if healthy, would this work, maybe Philly tosses another prospect in there?

I bet my buddy the sens would be a playoff team in 3 years last year, they are really damn close and a vet like Ellis with his 2 way skill could really help imo…

I wouldn't give up the 7th pick for him, but it's possible I would trade something for Ellis.

Speaking in a hypothetical situation where he is healthy… I honestly was thinking of him in a deal before with a conditional pick dealing with health… like if he plays 60 games it’s a first, if he plays 40 it’s a 2nd…

Obviously if healthy the guy is one of the best RHD in the game (2-way that is) but right now his value is LOW lol

Mid to high priced players are difficult to trade for a good pick. Sens would be better at some time to spend that 6.5m on a UFA. And a 31 year old with four years left on his contract may not be appealing.
Because of Ellis cap/term/age, I think a trade to the Sens would Colin White and his three contract and second rounder or Zaitsev and his two year contract and third rounder.

Availability is also a skill. The man has played 1 full season his entire career. For comp's sake, Petry broke into the league one year ahead of Ellis and has played approximately 240 games more.

5 more years at 6.25M for an oft-injured 31 yr old is gonna get ugly in a hurry.

As a rule of thumb, a team looking for a major upgrade to their RHD side shouldn't be calling up the team with the worst RHD side in the league.

Taking Risto to move up 2 spots would be worse than if Ottawa just abdicated the pick entirely.

No i didn’t mean Risto. But I think Philly doesn’t have a 2nd round pick this year. So use that

This is very true.

I guess when my team paid to get rid of a 50 point D because he was bad in his own zone, then paid a 1st + to get a less productive D equally as bad in his own zone, and Mr.LTIR, I had to convince myself something made sense lol

I feel you, man. I've always had a soft spot for the Flyers (and Philly in general!), but some of their moves just perplex me.

Ellis value is at an at time low you’d be lucky to get. 4th for him Ottawa declines
