I dont think he makes any sense at all for the Devils honestly. He's way older than our core players, is at his peak value and will command far more than he's worth, and would cost high-tier assets to trade for.

Fitzgerald may disagree but that would be horrific for the devils imo

I think Blackwood wants out of Jersey and they definitely need help in goaltending.

Are you saying Miller is too old? He's only 29 and in his prime.. We also need a top-6 veteran presence and would compare it to the Panarin trade the Rangers did a couple years ago.

That probably hardly gets you Demko. Definitely does not have Vancouver adding Miller. You don’t want to know the actual cost for both

The Devils can’t afford Demko unless they are willing to part with a player with the last name “Hughes”

Canucks literally can't afford hughes and pay upcomming rfa's.. canucks screwed themselves with that oel move. might be a prospect and another pick added in the trade? but they can definitely afford both.

Hockey primes are typically 24-26. There's lots of well documented research on this. 29 is when the decline really starts. 33 is when they fall off cliffs

Yes I am aware outliers exist. No I don't think JT Miller is one of them

30 of the top 50 scorers this past year were 26+ years old with 15 of them being 30+ years old. If you're good you're good.. like any player in at this age the contract will be bad by the last year or 2, but definitely worth it in the beginning.

Point production is first and foremost a function of time on ice, which older players get even if they have already peaked (btw, peak doesn't mean immediately bad)

Sorting by GAR and GAR/60 paints a different aging picture than the one youre painting, imo for the above reason.

If you look at his WAR and WAR/60 career chart, Miller was basically following the aging curve perfectly until this year. That's why I'm absolutely not betting on him being an outlier. He rose every season until 25, peaked at 25, declined every year until this one.
