I like Durzi, but pairing him with Power isn’t the right move imo
Durzi is an offensive minded defenseman
I think Lyubushkin, who’s more defensively oriented, would make much more sense

It cost islanders two second and a third to dump Ladd, it cost a first to the Leafs to dump Marleau, it cost Kolayachonuk and a second to dump Stralman, it cost a second to Philly to dump Ghost... So I don't know how you can think that Monahan at 6.5m isn't gonna cost you a second

The only player there vaguely comparable is Ghost? Ladd is an AHLer, Marleau literally never played a game for Carolina, Stralman was a 3rd pair defenseman. Ghost had some bad years but was healthy. Monahan had 2 bad years in the same way Tarasenko was bad the last 2 years. Completely caused by injury

Sabres have no use for Monahan, there are cheaper bottom line center, without such injury history. They could take his contract, but it's gonna cost.

If you think he is a bottom line center when healthy you are completely clueless. Buffalo not needing him does not change the fact that there has already been reported a lot of interest in him

Thread is about him being traded to Sabres.

We will see, there is no reason for any team to help Calgary - they have to move him, not the other way around.
Monahan will be out for the begining of the season, so team that have cap space and are likely to improve they roster will have no use for him. The ones that can wait for him and have him available for playoffs, have no room for 6 mil contract.

They don't have to move him and there is definitely no proof he will miss the start of the season

Dadonov and Smith have a similar level of play. Smith is better defensively. Dadonov at $2.5M retained comes at $3M and Smith's cap hit is $100K more. Why are the Bruins adding a 3rd and 6th? Or just trading him at all?

agree with this... Bruins just keep Smith for one and if they wanted Dadonov they'd probably just deal directly with Vegas...

The biggest trade is Olofsson (middle 6 PP guy) for Durzi (mid-pairing offensive defenseman). I guess minor might not be the right term but not exactly blockbusters either, and I think it benefits both teams.

Isn't that the point though? The guy can't stay healthy. His career has been ruined by injuries that are most likely permanent, so looking back several years to when he used to be healthy is irrelevant. He's not that player anymore.

How do you have any proof he's not that player anymore. In the last 2 years he's only played 6 games with 2 working hips. Im not calling him a ppg center, as I think that season was an anomaly. I am calling him a ~60 point top 6 center though when healthy.

His left hip surgery last summer was a success and felt excellent according to him. This year he gets the right hip surgery. Assuming it is also a success he should be healthy next season with little concerns. Its not like Calgary is going to block teams from seeing his medical records either, they aren't Buffalo
