I'd love Lucic, but no way he'd waive here or Buffalo would ask on him

Lucic will never waive to come to Buffalo
And we wouldn’t want him anyways

The Flames will look different next year, but they won't blow it up. This ownership group just collected money from 7 playoff dates. They will expect that again next year.

Probably unlikely he would go to Buffalo. But he seems like the type of person that could be accommodating to the Flames. Could be wrong though, it's well within his rights to exercise his trade list.

You realize Backlund is significantly better than Dvorak right? Calgary isn't the team adding there. Wouldn't even trade Kylington for him 1 for 1

I think Lucic would waive if it means he stays in the league. He waived for Seattle

Lucic was a dirty s.o.b. when he played with Boston, who is a big rival of ours
Lots of hate both ways there

Also, we wouldn’t want him
He’s tough, but not much of a hockey player anymore
Doubt we’d have any interest

And again, he doesn’t have to waive to come here
U guys could be stuck with him

Montreal's almost up to the contract limit and has drafted 38 players in the past 3 drafts and holds 14 picks this year, out of those 14 Wright will be signed right away. Doubt we're in a search for adding to our contracts without filling holes.

I could see the Habs make a separate deal for Kylington if he's made available, but I seriously doubt they go 7 years older by trading Dvorak for Backlund.

I agree on most parts here but I would take Lucic, granted not the player he once was but I'm not going to hold something against him that happened over 11 years ago. As we are seeing in this years playoffs goalies have been hit whether intentional or not. He would help with the cap, it's only 1 year. He doesn't have to dress every game and after punching someone in the mush or delivering a crushing hit fans forget fast once he would be doing it for the Sabres. JMO

But lets face it Adam's isn't bringing in a protector. I said this about the Sabres well before it happened to Troy Terry, (don't think Terry takes that beating if D-lo was still with Ana)...The Sabres now have a one for all, all for one attitude till someone hauls off and batters one of them and it could have happened in that Islander game if Martin or Johnston had wanted to do it.

“Protectors” don’t stop dirty plays from happening
They just retaliate & make u feel better about it

Give me a “tough” guy who can actually still play
Bring back Foligno for example

yeah but those are far and few...don't think Reaves on the bench doesn't make Ranger players tougher at least in the way they play and make opponents think twice about taking liberties.
Cernak doesn't plant an elbow in Cozens face with a Lucic or Gudbranson out there and know he's going to have to pay.

That simply isn’t true
Every single team in the league has players that get hit
Cheap shots & physical play happen- it’s hockey
Enforcers simply don’t prevent that
It’s a false narrative
Again, all they do is react once it does happen
And while that may make u feel better, it doesn’t stop the initial tough/dirty play from happening
