Retain half on Drouin and make the 2nd a conditional that he needs to score 10 goals and it's still a no.

Leafs easily easily decline, Kings decline (change it to a 3rd, retain 50%) Pens probably decline (change it to a 3rd)

If you mean that Byron seems like a Pens kind of guy because he gets injured a lot then yes, a total Pens guy LOL

I don't think this is a bad trade, but even with the retention I don't think he's worth a 2nd. I think a 3rd would be fair. He's really just another ZAR, but not as good defensively.

They need some better D as well no? Muzzin long term injury, Holl not living up to what he did 2 years ago. Campbell played well enough IMO. These guys add a little more beef and physically to the leafs and do not sacrifice too much mobility

I wouldn't really classify Edmundson or Petry as "better" than those guys though. Outside of Holl.

lol yes and just a lower end guy who maybe excels with a crosby or Malkin, im find with a 3rd. just trying to say Montreal offloads whatever they can but are stuck with some LT contracts

If muzzin was long term injury (he’s not at the moment) then the Leafs would just bury him. No need to give up 2 firsts to get back Edmunsom and Perry. Can get better dmen for 1st round picks

If Muzzin gets injured, then they can just go acquire someone else in a trade, instead of giving up all those assets to have Petry for another 3 years. Teams overpaid to add defenseman at the deadline as rentals for more depth/improvement. Don't expect the same haul for off-season trades on a non-rental player. Sandin and Liljegren are probably going to get more responsibility, they might look to trade one of them for a better established defender but under the age of 28

If Montreal wants to tank, then they move guys like Anderson, Hoffman, and maybe Gallagher for younger players and picks. They will score even less goals.

muzzin is better than both those guys, this trade is awful for the leafs, like its not even arguable
