Wasn't sure on value with Lucic in the deal but I feel this would be a good spot for Mangiapane. DET was going to go hard after Bryan Rust, so here is an alternative?

I'd personally want a 1st in the deal. 35 goal scorers don't appear on the market much

Sabres decline imo
Don’t think we’ll have interest in Monahan,
not unless you’re giving us a better draft pick

Why? He has 1 year left on his contract. I'll definitely take Lucic to get Mango.

He's not right mentally. When Edmonton got knocked out of the playoffs in 2016-17 he went through the handshake line saying "I will F****** kill you". I'm sorry but that's not the guy you want to toss into a young locker room. But it doesn't matter because Detroit isn't on his 8 team trade list.

Yeah I know Lucic is a loose cannon. But he actually had a decent season for Caigary. He's been quite tame (for him anyways) the past few years. He's a good nuclear deterrent. Opponents are much less brave when the caveman is sitting on the bench. Good for guys like Larkin and Raymond especially.

I know Stevie is big on character. But remember. We once tolerated a young Sean Avery many years ago. Until Kenny shipped him out as part of the Mathieu Schneider trade. Not all of our players have been saints and angels either.

I can't see Caigary making this trade anyway. And as you said, he won't waive for Detroit. With Gaudreau leaving as a UFA they'll need Mango's scoring.

I agree Calgary doesn't trade Mangiapane. With Avery he played 75 games over 2 seasons and didn't have anywhere near the attitude that he had later in his career. It wasn't until the second season that he earned a roster spot even then he still played 15 game in the AHL. Look at the roster for 2001-02 and 2002-03 there were several that would have put him in his place.
