I'm not understanding how the Sharks are retaining half of Burns' contract -- 4mil -- for three years, just so that they could trade him to move down from their #11 position to instead pick somewhere in the #20s?

Yeah, we're not retaining 4mil for a guy that still put up 50+ points AND also trading away our #11 pick lol

You guys tried to trade one of vlasic karlson or burns with no interest per Elliott Friedman and he said you guys may need to retain to move them. Nobody is paying to take on the 37 year old wonder making 8 mil.

I asked “who adds” in the trade description, so now that you’ve made it clear you think the pens need to add, what do they need to add?

Lol pretty bold to say “nobody” is taking burns after the year he had. You shouldn’t clump Burns and Karlsson with Vlasic because they are completely different cases and players. Burns is easily movable without retaining half of his salary while moving down in the draft. What GM would think that’s a good trade for their franchise?

That's not me saying that it's elliote friedman. He said they tried to move one of the 3 and they couldn't do it. Sorry I am going to take his word over the opinion of Glarson17.

As I have said several times now, I said "who adds" in the trade description. Meaning that I am not 100% sure which side this trade favors and asking for the opinion of a better trade. Not asking for a bunch of sharks fans to come and complain that 37 year old, overpaid, defensive liability, Brent Burns is the re-incarnation of Bobby Orr.

Pittsburg adds, I think that’s clear.

Friedman said there were preliminary discussions and nothing serious, I’ve never seen info stating there is “no interest” as you claim. In fact anything I’ve seen it mentioned there were teams interested and the talks were preliminary.

I have seen many variations of this trade but this seems like the simplest one that makes sense.

Maybe Sharks do that deal if there's no Retention, if the retention remains at 4M per then remove the Sharks 1st for put like a Sharks 5th
