Devils 2022-2023 - HFBoards Final Roster

Created by: Classic_Devil
Team: 2022-23 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: May 19, 2022
Published: May 27, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This roster was the result of an HFBoards GM game. Ultimately I didn't make many trades and wasn't able to get my first targets in UFA, but I think the roster is solid and is set up well for the future. For the moment the roster is built with the expectation of carrying three goalies, since Bernier's health is uncertain.

Terrible trade for Columbus. Acquiring what they have a ton of for their biggest lack

Yeah, that got comments when I posted the initial roster too. I can't speak for what the Blue Jackets' GM was thinking, but ultimately that was the reason I made the trade too: Zacha was superfluous, and a young RHD defensive defenseman is a major Devils team need.

I have never heard of what you're using but not surprising, there are tons of clueless CBJ fans out there (most of those probably don't even know this site exists), quite a lot are still new to hockey and only pay attention to our team (some not very well), and not the rest of the league, sport in general. Also other major forums such as one of the biggest (Reddit tears of joy ) is quite full of some pretty ignorant/close minded fans
The difference in the people/type of fan attending regular season games vs playoff games is blatant.

I'm guessing the fans showing up to playoff games are the less-informed.

the opposite actually. Columbus is a family city not a celeb town, the regular season games have quite an attendance of people who don't even follow the team and just go for the show in town, especially since tickets are cheaper. Tons of people go that don't even own a jersey nor intend to buy one, or just borrow a family member's (all of these speaking from seeing people I know go to games) as I said, just go for the show. The playoff games, tickets are much more expensive, almost every fan is in a jersey, the atmosphere is much better, and people actually understand the rules and what's going on better and don't complain about obvious penalties. I'm sure this is apparent everywhere, but even just watching the games on TV it is apparent compared to watching a different team's home games.

I'm no season ticket holder but I've been to ~80 season games over the past 11 years, and 7/15 home playoff games of the team's history. But I know other full season ticket holders who make the same observations

Had a very good year in the AHL, I figured he'd be down there to take pressure off Daws and Schmid, let one of them get regular starts in the ECHL.

I lived in Columbus for 8 years and went to a few games a year. Great city, great game environment.

yes I would agree that the arena atmosphere considering sound, lighting, and feeling are great no matter when you go. But when it comes to fans who actually know what's going on in front of them/the rules of the game, there's quite a difference when it comes to the playoffs

I mean, if fans are showing up to 2022 playoff games in Columbus, I’m guessing they aren’t following the team that closely. Lol.

(I was taking you too literally…totally get what you are saying)

Tampa passes, Koepke had a great rookie year in the AHL and could be fighting for a roster spot next year

Columbus and Tampa pass.

And try more like 5x5 for Jack Campbell.
