NJ and ARZ pass, And Kevin Fiala gets between $500,000 to $1,000,000 more in money.

Gonna need to add to Bailey for Ghost. A guy like Wilde or Bolduc would do. For NJ, probably need to add like a 3rd or 4th. Fiala gets anywhere from 500k-1M more. But, an elite goalie with a very good d-core will get us far enough. With Tampa inevitably getting worse next year and most likely Carolina too, there's no reason this team can't push for the ECF again and possibly cup.

Greiss loved it here, I could easily see him taking a league min contract. He got his payday in Detroit already. So essentially just take Greiss' extra money and throw it on Fiala and that'll work out.

Yep would do all of that if I had to. Lineup looks strong

100%. I'd probably change the lines a bit differently, but they'll be changed throughout the year anyways. TBL, CAR, NYR, TOR are the only teams that concern me next year. But it seems like Tampa will be losing some key pieces, Carolina won't be able to resign everyone, Rangers have the same issue as Carolina (Strome and Copp especially), and Toronto has like 0 cap space and needs a goalie. This is definitely something that has a chance to do something special. I'd argue it's the best team we've had since maybe the 93 team?

It would definitely be up there. My only thing is having to rely so heavily on Sorokin. I know good teams do that, and I have faith Sorokin is a franchise goalie. But it's really nice feeling comfortable with a 1B in the event of injury. Greiss would be fine in a limited/strategic workload but you're asking a lot if Sorokin gets hurt or goes into a slump

Yeah, we've had a 1B for years now, dating back to Halak/Greiss. If they do bring in Greiss or a guy like him, I could see them taking another veteran to play in Bridgeport to help develop Skarek but also get enough playing time to where he could stay sharp. Essentially a better version of Schneider for these past 2 years

Isles don’t need to send anything to NJ for graves. I’m also not sure why fans r treating Bailey like a negative asset when every major NY sports writer is saying their sources tell them otherwise.

Hysterical take on the NJ trade. Idk about the Arizona one, but I wouldn’t make it if I was the Isles.

He's not a negative asset, its just that Ghost is more valuable than Bailey

I don’t know that I agree with that. I think Ghost is a stat compiler.

I’d rather try and trade Bailey for Haydn Fleury or someone like that. Just a cheap lefty defenseman who worst case is good depth.

I like ur thought process. But I think there is a good chance isles can clear salary and then just sign Johnny Hickey as a UFA. I also think Zadarov could be an Islander next year cause if they trade Varly, the isles will need a new Russian to be friends with Soroky.

this dude is usually trolling but i think he means that the trade is fine as is 1 for 1, which does make some sense as both are rentals and NJ needs a goalie and NYI needs an LD.

For Fiala you're looking at about 8Mx5 years. What's the current word on Bellows? I liked him a couple years ago, but haven't checked on him recently.

Biggest knock on Bellows is his skating ability. He can score at a decent clip. He was on a 35 point pace this season in pretty sheltered minutes with Trotz and did not see much PP time. I don't think he's a top line player but could see him carving out a 3rd line role. I think he also played with Greenway on Team USA

It seems like he's purely a LW now. I always wanted to see him as C2 or C3. So he's likely not a good fit for us. We're set at LW with Kaprizov, Boldy, Greenway, and Duhaime.

From NYI, I've been thinking that we should target Wahlstrom. We could use the help at RW after trading Fiala

Isles will probably want to hold onto him. Need guys on ELCs and Wahlstrom has 30 goal upside easy.

Bellows played RW a bit this season. Could also make the prospect Simon Holmstrom. He’s a natural RW and just about NHL ready. Seen some people mention Beauvillier and a lottery protected 2023 1st as well
