Upsettingly realistic

Description
Ownership's dream right here. Actual salary expenditure is under 63 mil.

No changes at forward. Yes Krebs on 4th line. Open any public advanced stats model, the guy got absolutely rocked at the NHL level and before you say it, yes I saw that one pass he made on Friday March the who cares. He had the worst possession and shot quality for/against of any Sabres forward (including Eakin). Let him work his stuff out with defensively responsible players and he'll probably take Mittelstadt's spot at some point.

Fans will love adding PK Subban b/c many of them think its still 2014 or w/e

Desmith cause he'll get the starter role, Karmanos connection might be a factor

I just guessed the Weber deal, i really don't know. I assume the Sabres will get something for it, just nothing particularly strong since there will be more than one team interested.

Idk what good value here is. Multiple teams will be interested, but he's not playing so I imagine it'll cost MTL something to move him, but nothing like when the leafs had to move Marleau since his actual salary is much lower.

That was for cap relief from the ceiling, not the floor. They dont want a team paying assets to avoid spending to the league min. its a bad look

Yeah, it's more about the league looking bad than anything else lol. I still think a team will have to send assets to Montreal for the contract since it has value to the acquiring team lol.

Arizona is the desitination for Weber if any team. He is owned 6 millions, but carries cap hit for 4 more years. Perfect for Arizona - 60 mil cap floor, would cost them 55 mil in 2022/23 and then 53.
Sabres should try to make the floor, by actually signing guys which can improve this roster.

They should, they won't. They dont wanna move casey and they don't wanna block the path of Peterka and Quinn. Subban and Desmith help get them pretty close to the floor (i think i was at 60 mil before the Weber add)

I'm fine with spending money on cap dumps if they come with prime assets, otherwise just overpay for a few ufas. There's no reason to help teams out for free.

I thought about Lucic+assets from CGY but he's still playing and...well...idk how realistic that is lol.

The league was fine with it they explained it in a press conference the habs are in the process of getting the insurance on the contract sorted so the acquireing team pays no actual dollars so it made sense for arizona to wait as they could potentially save even more

I mentioned this before, I think the market for cap space is way too buyer friendly. I personally think a 5 million dollar cap dump is worth a first. It's not a straight line, some guys like Tyler Myers, actually play, just not very well, so their 6 million dollar salary is probably not a straight dump. I know Ron Francis was taking crap from the talking heads for not accepting 5th or 6th round picks for cap dumps, because those picks were free assets. Which I don't understand honestly. I'm with Francis on this, if you give it up for free, don't expect anybody to pay you.

I just assume some sort of mid to late pay pick for whoever takes him. I take your point, but I believe part of the rumoured reason the league nixed the weber/arizona deal is because they dont like the optics of a team paying picks for a player just to get the floor. IIRC, they really pushed the "if you're only going to the cap floor can your actual salary invested in the team be at least close to that?" with the owners.

Yeah I heard that too. Obviously this is all hearsay but I also heard that the way they'd accept it is if they make it an actual hockey deal. That obviously takes more time to do so both GM's couldn't make it work before the TDL. I still think it will happen but both teams will need to add some pieces to make look a little less obvious. Maybe a couple extra roster players added or something along those lines.

Arizona actually pays nothing since his contract is insured

Yeah I was only saying that for context in times of savings millions by not spending but yeah they don't actually pay anything. Well technically that's not necessarily 100% true. Insurance companies don't always cover 100% of the contracts. They may cover like 60-90% of it. But by that time the remaining amount is peanuts in the grand scheme of things so its often considered nothing.

Pay some vet, if Peterka or Quinn outplay him, trade him at deadline. Someone has to push youngins.
Also RHD and Goalies 1A and third postions are wide open.
